Talking of oil coolers for the CJ6....
Has anyone replicated it in modern materials or come up with an off the shelf usable
alternative?
I removed mine for internal cleaning and was absolutely staggered by the weight
of it..... Its brass and probably weights about 25kg!
You'd gain some good performance if a firm like 'MOCAL' would replicate it in aluminum.
Any ideas?

I have not done the numbers but I am afraid that you would have to add a
ton of weight to the tail to off set moving the oil cooler to the firewall.

Hi Mike;
See if you can determine where it's leaking from. If from a fitting that is
likely repairable without too much trouble. If leaking from the core it will
need overhaul or replacement.
There are two overhaul facilities I know of. Ultimate Oil Cooler in
Winnipeg (in the Aero Recip. facility) and Pacific Oil Cooler in the Los
Angeles area. Been meaning to look up the contact info. at the hangar but
keep forgetting. I have used both over the years. I suspect there are more
in the far east (Toronto or Montreal) but don't know.
A core leak can be very expensive to repair so if that is the problem you
may want to get a new one from Doug.
Cheers;

Five (retired) Larry Kulsrud. Larry spent 24 years in the Army as an attack
helicopter pilot serving in many operations and locations such as Desert Storm,
Haiti, Iraq, Cuba, Afghanistan and Somalia. His presentation at "Swamp Thunder"
will focus on his actions while assigned to the 160th Special Operations
Aviation Regiment during operation "Gothic Serpent" in Somalia. Most of you
will recall the best-selling book and blockbuster movie "Blackhawk Down" of this
operation. CW5 Kulsrud was awarded the Silver Star for his role as an AH-6
Attack Pilot providing covering fire for ground forces, both Delta Force and
Army Rangers evacuating wounded Blackhawk helicopter pilots. One particular
event in the movie where Larry is portrayed was as the attack pilot strafing the
bad guys using a infrared strobe light on the building top as his guide. You'll
find his presentation of the hair raising events in Mogadishu awe-inspiring, so
please make plans to join us at "Swamp Thunder" from April 5th through April

Looking for help with identifying the correct bearing size on the right aileron.
Found a play, removed the aileron to find out that bearing is gone.
Would appreciate for an advice.

There are actually 4 bearings on the aileron. The inboard bearing and the bearing
on the top where the pushrod connects are 6x19x6 (mm) self aligning bearings.
If i am not mistaken, the outboard and middle bearings on the underside of
the aileron) are unique. I believe Jill will have them in stock.

Hello Bradly,
I noted your requirement for drawings - we have some drawings of the
structure of both 50 and 52.
They are quite detailed technical drawings, but certainly not of sufficient
detail that you could go and build another wing on the strength of them!. To
be precise, each aircraft is spread across, 3 sheets of A3, but covers the
complete aircraft and not just the wings.
Could these be of any interest?

Guys,
Several years ago I was involved with building up a full IFR CJ. The back
up attitude indicator was to be vacuum with a 24 volt airborne vacuum pump.
The owner decided to not install a second AI so I have it as surplus and
am offering it for sale.
The vacuum pump was made by Parker, Airborne Division it is new, unused
Mod 4A2-4 new cost over $1400.00
The AI is aerobatic type, used, was removed from a Decathalon.
Pair $1000.00 I also have some of the plumbing (filter, reg etc.,) which I
will throw in for free.
If interested please contact me off list.
Best,
Doug

Aside from the potential balance problems which could be severe, the
fact that the rib design is totally unsuitable for riveting makes fabric
the only choice.

I agree. Besides recovering with fabric is actually easier (at least to

Because I've experienced insufficient cooling using the original Chinese horn on

If there is enough interest, the talented fellow who made the horn will produce

I failed to be more explicit and to include the picture. This is the "pipe"
which brings cooling ram air through the shutters (gills) on the starboard s
ide of the engine and blows it on to the cooling fins of the air compress
or.
The Yak 18T cooling horn essentially surrounds the compressor, making coolin
g and compressor intake air cooler and therefore more efficient. More photog
raphs of the installation to follow.
