Great idea Don! It may be easier to drill the hole in the nut however.

For those of you not to this point yet.... do yourselves a favor
and drill a 2nd hole through the front axle.... if you don't you will
almost always end up with too little torque or too much. Because of the
nut and use of cotter pin, we are limited to 60 degrees, 1/6th turn to
get it right. Drilling a 2nd hole, you can at least get closer to
optimum (30 degrees, 1/12th of a turn.
