A relative on the U.S. side has a house on the shore near a practice area I use for formation training. I'd like to swing by his house in formation some time, but I'm unsure about the relevant U.S. regulations. My reading of FAR Part 91 indicates that I can perform non-aerbatic formation flight over water at a minimum altitude of 500 feet and a minimum of 500 feet from shore. This is less than the Canadian regulations (CARs) require, by my reading. (In Canada it would be 500 ASL and 2,000 feet from shore.) Since Canadian and U.S. regs are usually comparable on these matters, I suspect I may have missed something in the FARs. Can any U.S. pilots advise me? (This is Class G airspace.) Tedd
