I drive a Pitts S1 D, IO360 with high compression pistons solid crank, the big ends balanced to 2 g, maximum continuous RPM 3000. Putting out about 190 hp perhaps a little more. I am looking to see what options I have for a propeller, I currently have Hartzall, fixed pitch Which allows about 2700rpm @12-130kn. Am happy to look at electric variable/CSU or fixed pitch of any type. I am looking for advice as to what has been done before. My thoughts were initially to seek a composite prop, fixed pitch to allow 2900-3000 rpm straight and level full throttle at 4000 feet ~ 130-140kn. The major limitation in the system as the pilot of course who is old grey slow and stupid! For it is worth the usual vertical is between 140-160 kn at 3000-3100 rpm after a small by dive. 6G onto the vertical, and all seems to work quite well. The question so any advice and help would be gratefully received. My IO-360-A1A engine with 3 blade Perf. Prop is 3000 rpm S&L. Great climb. Good top speed. Looks great. very light. Good service. What else do you need.
