I have a Blue Sea Maxi fuseholder on my 40 amp alternator.
www.bluesea.com PN5006. It is a reasonable size, weighs next to
nothing, and does not require external rubber boots over the connections
which helps keep it compact. The connection bolts also clamp the maxi
fuse spades so that the fuse can not be removed without loosening them.
The B&C anl holder is larger but almost certainly quite a bit smaller
than what you may have seen for marine use.

I plan to use a RC Allen 2-1/4" T&B (A1050-2) as one of the mechanical backups
to a Dynon EFIS in my GlaStar panel. Now I am making a mockup of the panel and
need to know the clearance of this instrument to locate it away from fuselage
cage tubes behind the panel. Unable to find dimensions on the internet (Kelly
Manufacturing's website said in 2002 that specs would be posted soon!), I will
appreciate hearing the depth WITH connector for this instrument from anyone
using one.
TIA, Bruce McGregor

I'm planning the interior lighting for my Velocity to be based on LEDs for longer
life and lower power consumption. Does anyone know of a good source for LED
map-lights? Also, anyone know of an inexpensive dimmer for LEDs?

I am not aware of any, but you can get LED bulb replacements for most
smaller sized bulbs from Digi Key and other parts suppliers. Automotive
stores also have a lot of them. I like the goose neck lights that Wicks is
carrying now with the bulb replaced with one of the LED bulbs.
Also check out my LED instrument lights at www.engalt.com/aviation.htm. I
have not updated the web site lately, but Wicks and Spruce both sell them.

I used one of these on my panel LEDs and it's worked great so far (125
hours). It was a pretty neat "intro to electronics kit" for the neofight and not
difficult to assemble. I did eliminate the fwd/rev switch and install a higher
quality remote pot (pt # RV4N104C-ND) from DigiKey:
http://www.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?KeywordSearch
for about 6-7 bux.

These goosenecks are excellent for map/lap lights. We bought the x series
because they lock into the XLR receptacles. The company did not recommend
the ones that have BNC's because they would tend to rotate with aircraft
vibrations. They are only 2 watt incandescents, but you can get the LED
versions at more cost. However, we are using LED's for the remainder of
the cabin lighting.

This dimmer is the one we bought. Works very well with LED's and has great
flexibility. We will use one channel for the map lights, one for the cabin
lights, etc.

If you want to do it yourself, I published an instrument lighting system in
"KITPLANES Mar. 01 pg 64. Note that each LED has its own limiting resistor.
This is necessary to protect the LED and makes all LEDs appear equally
bright. It is a simple pulse width modulator that runs at about 1200 Hz.

I'm ready to run the wires into the fuse busses but I have a few question.
Please check them out at theis link and let me know if I am anywhere
close to doing it right.

Listers, Is anyone using the Electronic International tach with a Jeff Rose
EIS and one mag? If so, how did you set up the tach to read from both
ignition systems on a mag check? Is using the tach drive from Vans, part
number IE Vtachgen12 the solution?
