    >> Modern system do not use a strobe light. An accelerometer and an optical sensor are mounted near the prop, and a reflecting tape is mounted on the prop itself, but not as a reference for a strobe. A computer reads data from both and provides vibration amplitude and phase information as a guide to be used placing weights. The new Insight G3 engine monitor is to eventually include a real-time vibration monitor. Whether it will be capable enough to suggest location and size of balance weights, I do not know. It wasn't functional on version 0 IIRC. Eric, The endoscope arrived while I was on vacation. I just returned home and have had an opportunity to investigate the unit: That's a 10 meter cable with a USB connector on one end and teeny-tiny camera with 4 LED lights on the other. The maximum diameter of the camera end is just under 1/2 inch. Maybe 15/32 inch or 1.15 cm. The unit is supposed to be waterproof. The little wheel on side of the USB connector is the brightness control for the LEDs. I plugged it into the USB port on my Mac and the LEDs light and the wheel does control their brightness. And they are quite bright. It would be really cool if I can get it to work. Here's a scan of the documentation: The documentation says it will run directly on a Windows XP system but needs the drivers off the included mini-CD for Windows Vista or Windows 7. No Mac support (rats=85). I have an ancient Windows XP laptop which I'm trying to resurrect to test this device. If I can not get the old (as when XP was new vintage) Windows XP laptop going I will be willing to part with the endoscope for my cost in it plus shipping as I'm a Mac guy and have no other Windows hardware to even test it. One last possibility will be to get that new Mac Laptop I've been wanting and to set up and install a Windows partition with XP or 7. I had a setup like that on my old Mac deskside and it worked quite well but would need a new laptop for this rig to be effective. I'll continue to post as I can try things. Feel free to ask questions or provide suggestions, like, how do I get the stuff off a mini-CD for use on a Mac Laptop that has a slot-loading CD/DVD that won't take mini-CDs? Gads, why can't folks work with both PCs and Macs. Blue skies & tailwinds, Bob Borger Europa XS Tri, Rotax 914, Airmaster C/S Prop.
