Hey Jeff and Bob N, take a look at this little fella. 6 Analogue inputs, 10 digital and easy to write to an LCD display. I am crafting "idiot light" functionality for oil pressure and water temp. The "Arduino" costs about $30 here in South Africa, the LCD display $7. http://www.arduino.cc/ Best... Arduino is a great platform, *if* you can write code in C. If, like me, you don't know C, take a look at the PICAXE controllers. They have most of Arduino's capabilities, and they come in 8, 14, 18, 20, 28 and 40 pin versions for projects requiring more or less numbers of I/O connections. One of their great new features is the ability to run 4 to 8 programs in parallel (depends on chip size), so one chip can continuously monitor multiple sensors and switch multiple outputs simultaneously. Best of all, programming is a relative breeze with their "Logicator" flowchart software, or you can write BASIC yourself. Documentation is superb, as PICAXE was conceived as an educational platform for primary schools. http://www.picaxe.co.uk/ I believe Sparkfun is their main U.S. distributor. Chips range from $3-$10. The biggest single expense is a USB programming cable at $27, but that's a one-time deal. All chips are available in SMT versions, but I've had some trouble finding them. http://www.sparkfun.com/ I've used the smallest PICAXE chip (08M2) for a couple of small projects and found it easy to interface, easy to program, and the result was a couple of useful gadgets, one of which my Dad uses every day. Bob, One of the reasons I've not changed displays on the current Microchip PIC-based fuel gauge is that I'm considering a switch to Arduino. It seems that there are many Arduino options available off-the-shelf compared to Microchip. What started out as a little project has gathered mass as it's rolled along. Go figure... Has anyone come up with a tool to help with wire listing? Add this unit and that unit and let you connect the pins and come up with a wire list? I have seen one from Visual Engineer Inc but I kind of think it's aimed at people that rewire 2 or 3 Gulfstream's a week. There must be a one off home built version. Any thoughts? Bill

Yeah, like that. I've got about 8 things that have to wired together and I don't have enough floor space to lay out all the sheets. :) Bill On 2/8/13 1:54 PM, B Tomm wrote: > > Like a pen and paper? > > Bevan > > -----Original Message----- > From: owner-aeroelectric-list-server@matronics.com > [mailto:owner-aeroelectric-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of Bill > Putney > Sent: Friday, February 08, 2013 12:45 PM > To: aeroelectric-list@matronics.com > Subject: AeroElectric-List: Avionics Wire Lister? > > > What started out as a little project has gathered mass as it's rolled along. > Go figure... > > Has anyone come up with a tool to help with wire listing?
