I simply put it all down on a spreadsheet. We use a program called EPLAN at work for this but its very expensive. For the small size of our stuff a spreadsheet works just fine, and you can tailor the list to suit your needs- and sort it any way you want to. It feels like a bit more work at first but it really pays back later when you are trying to figure out what circuit wire !@#$%^&@ belongs to! :-) Jay ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ HH Enterprises Supply and installation of top class water filters for your best drinking experience! What started out as a little project has gathered mass as it's rolled along. Go figure... Has anyone come up with a tool to help with wire listing? Add this unit and that unit and let you connect the pins and come up with a wire list? I have seen one from Visual Engineer Inc but I kind of think it's aimed at people that rewire 2 or 3 Gulfstream's a week. There must be a one off home built version. Any thoughts? There's just so much typing all those pin assignment names in. I usually can cut and paste those but the Garmin manual pdf's I have are copy protected. :( Bill On 2/11/13 2:41 AM, Jay Hyde wrote: > > I simply put it all down on a spreadsheet. Bill.... Do a screen print (the PRT SCR key) of the appropriate page in the pdf, then copy it into your favorite graphic editing program (Open the program, then CTRL-V...Irfanview for me) then copy and paste what you need from there. Capen" Subject: AeroElectric-List: SD-20 Alternator / SB1B-14 regulator failure modes As a follow up to my recent failure. The issue ended up being the gear coupling in the alternator. The gear coupling is a field replaceable item and I have one on the way. More when it happens.... ________________________________ Message 5 _____________________________________ Time: 01:49:12 PM PST US Subject: Re: AeroElectric-List: Avionics Wire Lister? From: James Kilford Hi Bill, What would this bit of software do? I'm not sure I understand the concept here. Are you able to write down a few sentences for what the requirement is? I ask as a software developer who's just finished a contract. From: Bill Putney Well... If I were king, it would have a list of equipment (i.e. SL30, KX125, Aspen EDF1000,...) and I could pick the ones that wanted. The software woul d list all the pins and let me highlight (select) pins and click "Connect" a nd when I was all done, it would output a wire list. Of course it would be n ice to be able to edit the list too. If it did checking like not letting me t ie incompatible pins together and making sure there is at lease one source p in for whatever sinks there are. If it put out schematic (or single line) dr awings that would be cool too. That's all. :) Bill Sent from my iPad On Feb 11, 2013, at 1:47 PM, James Kilford wrote: > Hi Bill, > > What would this bit of software do? I'm not sure I understand the concept here.
