I've been pondering the most economical way to approach added filters to this particular light and I've come to a conclusion. Emacs! After determining that I COULD do a really on-purpose looking filter assembly and connector on the rear housing for this fixture, the machining time would probably not let me sell an upgrade for what I'd like to get for my time. At the same time, any 'fix' for this particular product would be unique to the product. The LED lighting industry is exploding with new products. There's more than a small risk that the expense of $time$ to develop a noise-mod for this particular light would become obsolete when some new kid on the block shows up with a different package. Sooooo . . . plan D . . . or E . . . or what ever it's up to at the moment. Emacs! Here's a 'universal' double-pi filter board laid out to accept ferrite chip attenuators and Emacs! . . . ceramic chip capacitors. Unlike the broadband filter in the first picture, the effectiveness of this filter is centered on the VHF nav and comm frequencies. By constraining its performance, I could get it to fit on a 0.3 x 0.6 inch board. As you can see, packaging is not elegant but it's simple and adaptable to a wide range of fixtures. I'll be offering this filter assembly on the website catalog in a few days . . . as soon as I ge time to write the product information document. In the mean time, who's light fixtures do I have? I'll return them to you with one fixture modified as shown. The other fixture is 'stock'. There will also be an assembled filter packed loose. Do what ever testing you can on the filtered assembly and decide for yourself whether or not it's worth your trouble to add the loose filter to the second fixture. Bob . . .

Hey Bob, I notice your emails are arriving a day in the future... have you mastered the time machine, or is your computer confused about the date? :-) Paul

I'm putting 90% done and 90% to go on setting up a new computer. My ol' P4 machine was getting long in the tooth . . . nearly 10 years old. I'm planing some video production and thought it would be nice to have a bit more byte-thrashing snort. Picked up a dual-core, 3.2G machine with lots of RAM for $150 delivered to my door (aint eBay wunderful?). Put a dual screen video card in it and I'm really enjoying the up-tick in responsiveness. Now I'm finding out how 'nice to have' bits of software still need to be chased down and installed. Got the date fixed! As Eric noted a few days ago, the advances in video hardware are amazing. The stuff I've acquired new to my desk is a generation or more old and STILL of astounding value and capability . . . and dirt cheap. Bob . . .
