It seems part of the Matronics subscriber list has been leaked or
harvested a number of years ago, and this results in spam every now and
then. I'm not getting any spam from Blueberry so it's not coming through
the Matronics site itself. But I do get spam from other sources. As I
use a unique email address for Matronics, I can tell that that address
has been leaked or harvested at some point. Our addresses are now in
spammer databases and there's very little you can do about it. Matt
can't help, Bob can't help.
All you can do is use unique email addresses per subscription, and if
the spam level becomes annoying for that address, just toss that email
address and use a new one. I have my own domain, so it's just a matter
of setting up a new alias.

Beg to differ, Rob. It's very recent - i've only been a subscriber for a month
or two and I'm getting them.
And it's 99% certain it's all coming directly through the list server judging by
the headers and signature. No spammer would bother spoofing all that information.

Sure . . . I wouldn't add relays to the
system to keep panel currents low. This
just drives up parts count and offers
little if any benefit.

Same here, but I am getting the emails. You must have a local filter
that is preventing them from showing up in your Inbox. The spam is
definitely going through the list.

Bob and all,
Thank you.
Attached is a drawing of how I understand the Rotax schematics. Hope
it'll get through.
At least it helps me better understand the starting sequence (5 switches
in addition to the master switches and start button).
Please feel free to comment and point me to errors.
Thanks for everything,

Come on, guys. This stuff happens occasionally. A spammer signs up as a
regular user, & sends a batch of emails to the list. As soon as Matt
catches it, he'll block the new 'member' & it will be over, but I think
I've gotten more emails from y'all *about* the spam, than the total number
of spam emails from 'blueberry'.
Give Matt a chance to do his thing. And BTW, did everyone who's complaining
contribute during the fund raiser last fall? ;-)

I'll assume you're referring to my recent post, though I can't tell for
sure since I get the list via email and if you don't quote at least part of
the post you're responding to, none of us on the email server can tell who
you're responding to.
My point is that if all you do is suck from the teat, you've no right to
complain about what the cow eats. (In case you've never been outside the
city limits, that's where milk actually comes from.)
The fund raiser isn't a charity. It's intended to help Matt cover his
expenses running this, and a lot of other lists/forums. In case you haven't
noticed, there's no advertising in these lists or the forums; not even for
the products that Matt produces and sells.
If you think about it, a handful of spam emails is noteworthy only because
of its rarity here. Kinda like the news media focusing on every a/c crash,
when thousands of car crashes happen every day.
You can't post here without being a member. I can testify to that, because
I've accidentally tried to post from one of my other email addresses in the
past, and I just tested it again a few minutes ago.
See below for the response from Matt's server.

Subject: | Return of the Rotax 912/914 PM alternator |
Hi all,
From time to time someone raises the Rotax 912/914 alternator subject.
Maybe some here will remember that many moons ago we conducted an
in-depth study of the Rotax alternator and voltage regulator electrical
and thermal performance :
http://contrails.free.fr/elec_ducati_en.php
Two days ago I paid a visit to the electricity lab where we performed
our tests 13 years ago and gess what, there lay "my" alternator, among
other DC machines, dynamos and motors.
The alternator is now back in my garage again, ready for any additional
(static) tests...

Please, just let it go.
If you must tell someone; tell Matt, to be sure he's seen it. The rest
of us know that posts to the email list go to the forum, and also that
posts to the forum go to the list.
We've gotten more spam from legit list members the last couple of days,
than from the spammer. :-)
