Hi list, I'm curious if there would be any negative consequences to using a standard SPDT toggle switch in lieu of the red split rocker or a progressive transfer toggleswitch. I already have a pullable breaker that can be used to shut down the (externally regulated) alternator in the rare case when that's desirable and I like the simplicity of just "on" and "off". The only potential snag that has occurred to me thus far is that there could be a "load dump" event on switch off. This could happen because even though the field is disconnected at the same time as the battery, there is still stored energy in the alternator inductance that may take a few 100s of ms to dissipate. This energy would have to go to the bus as the battery would no longer be present to absorb it. To some degree the progressive transfer mitigates this effect by sequencing the alternator field off first and then the master contactor. However, I'm not really sure how effective this is as the delay is probably quite small ( Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=465171#465171

Subject: Rick Rack Three Position Switch Schematic
Does anybody happen to have a schematic for the ON-OFF-ON Rockrack switches? The switches are three position and they advertise on off on and they're supposed to have two green LEDs one in the top of the switch and one of the bottom of the switch. The only schematics I could find are for the 2 position off on switches. Emails to Aevo go unanswered. Any help would be greatly Bill Hunter any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Subject: Red LED Beacon
Does anybody have any knowledge of a small aerodynamic red beacon? My airplane has the wingtip strobes however I do not like to taxi with white strips flashing. It seems more courteous to taxi with just a red light flashing. I have looked up some of the emergency vehicles style LED flashers however I cannot seem to find one that's a low profile and/or aerodynamic to put on the roof of my velocity. Since this airplane is a pusher it has to be a very starting unit so that no parts fall off and fly into the propeller Aevo has a small aerodynamic unit however it seems a bit beyond my threshold of pain for my credit card. Any advice would be greatly appreciated Bill Hunter
