FYI: Everyone who reads the list via email just got a gazillion pages of gibberish
due to your post. This is an extra PIA for those of us who subscribe to the
digest as we have to scroll through all of the gibberish you posted to get to
something that matters. Thanks for sharing.

Jim,
I get the list via email (*not* digest; is that how you actually get it?),
and I have no idea what you're talking about, or who you're talking to.
You might need to be a bit more specific.
Charlie

Hi Charlie- I apologize for not being clear. I was directing my comment to Jurgen
- the poster who complained about a gazillion pages of gibberish and in so
doing included the gazillion pages of gibberish for the rest of us to experience.
I get the list via the once daily digest. When someone replies to a digest email,
the entire content of the that 24 hours of email are included in that reply.
And then when the list subscribers get their next digest email they have to
scroll through an entire 24 hours of list postings in the middle of the current
digest of emails. Jurgens post includes an example of how the digest version
of the list arrives in subscribers' mail box.
Regards-
Jim

I've got code written for the PIC as well. I may need to tweak the
voltage and time parameters to get exactly 0.5v and 0.5s when we get
down to the actual circuit. But that's easily done in EEPROM values.

Certainly. Bob, could you please add the IVO Prop controller software
to your site with the rest of the files? It's currently in our Dropbox
share.
Please be kind on your comments on the code - I haven't tried to clean
it up to make it presentable - it's still at version 0.03, so I may
still do quite a bit of tweaking before we declare v1.0. But I am
interested in anything you see that we could improve on. Thanks!

Sorry for the delay . . . was in Wichita putting the
finishing touches on a staircase to my sister's deck.
Paul's software offering can be found at:
http://tinyurl.com/yby3waw6
You guys might be thinking about how you'd like to
configure the 'elegant' package. The ECB I've
crafted will lend itself to either an open-
to-the-sky style of installation, like our
old AEC9005 . . .
Emacs!
of course, this can be put into some form
of enclosure with the connector extending
through the wall.
There's a kinda cute extruded aluminum
enclosure offered from several sites on
the 'net . . .
Emacs!
The final configuration could be converted to surface
mount components. Connections brought out on flying
leads through a grommet.
The advantages for thru-hole components is that
more people might be encouraged to take on
the project. Anyone spotted another option?

----------------- Hi Bob I would like one of the IVO prop current
limiters if you have one left . Emil Radtke pulsar111 with Jabriu
3300 engine ------------------you can send me info on this page. thank you

Wow -- I went to work for a two-day trip and you guys have the project all but
finished!
I guess with the through-hole PCB layout done and ordered, there's probably little
point in me continuing my effort to do it here. I'll lay down my pencil unless
there's another way I can assist.
If it's decided to pursue a surface mount version, I'd be happy to work on that.
Just say the word...
Cheers,
Eric

Subject: | Troubleshooting 200G/ Z-17 |
All,
The good news from today is that I successfully ran my freshly
overhauled O-200 today in preparation for a FAA inspection in a few
weeks. The bad news is that I am getting no alternator output at all.
The alternator is a B&C 200G PM dynamo, wired per Z-17 (no master
contactor.) Running the engine between idle and 1800 RPM saw no change
in bus voltage, which stayed at the same 13.1V as it did with the engine
not running.
Troubleshooting so far- besides checking all wiring connections, I
verified that the OV relay is working and that I wired it correctly. I
verified that the alternator's raw output was as expected (15-25VAC,
increasing with speed.) I measured voltage at the capacitor (just
downstream of the regulator) and it was the same 13.1 and did not vary
with speed. Disconnecting the regulator I verified that there is zero
volts coming out of the regulator, although I understand from the
troubleshooting documents that it must have bus voltage applied in order
to output, so I'm thinking this doesn't mean much.
Is this as simple as a bad regulator? I'm going to call B & C first
thing tomorrow but I thought I'd check here first.
Thanks
Jeff Point

wouldn't bet on that . . . but it did take a quantum
jump

Let's see how the

The board I have is about 2x the area that
would be required for SM components . . . and
if I were tooling up to build quantities, I'd
go SM. But if we're wanting to maximize penetration
into the DIY community, TH is probably better.
Once the hardware and software are successfully
married, an SM version in the smaller extruded
aluminum enclosure might encourage someone to
build up small quantities for sale . . . to
be sure, the plug-n-play community is larger than
the DIY community.
B&C might be intreseted in adding it to their
stable of products . . . let's see how the
project matures.

Emil, at the moment, this is a spontaneously
organized cooperation to develop the product.
The boards I mentioned are bare boards which
I will make available to individuals who will
be the beta-testers . . . they'll have to
acquire parts and assemble them.
At the moment, I have no plans to produce them
here but somebody on the List might be willing
to help you out.

Yes . . . was your alternator disconnect relay closing when
you moved the switch to ALT+BAT postion?
