I currently have a dual battery, PC680s and a dual alternator system. The Odyssey charger is an OBC 12a. I currently have both batteries in the shop wired in parallel using the OBC charger to maintain until the airplane is completed in a couple of months. My charger plug in the plane is wired to maintain a charge on the primary battery and not the secondary. Charlie, you advice for splitting the charger + lead at its terminal is great advice. Reading the additional information about maintainers, Ive now decided to use the charger as wired in the plane for the primary only. I intend to fly the plane a minimum of once per week. Winter could stretch that occasionally. You guys have been a tremendous resource during my build. Im looking forward to finally flying this plane. Ill keep you posted. When I was still at the local airport as manager, we installed an AWOS, and the phone line to it was fused with a 1/10 amp fuse. When we installed it to protect an ISI board ($300) we no longer blew the board at evey thunderstorm. That 1/10 amp fuse was only $2, and much easier to replace. Which does raise one other question, the fuse looks like 1/4amp, how do I fuse this (and other items like 'steam gauge lighting') which have only light gauge wires, the smallest fuse available for the bus is 1amp John Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=487289#487289 ________________________________ Message 3 _____________________________________ Time: 10:55:06 PM PST US Subject: AeroElectric-List: Re: Battery From: "sha664817" chargers like this $3.25 module that I have observed to be more precise and reliable than the air conditioner fueled Schumacher chargers for lead corrosive VRLA batteries. These are not unregulated stream chargers but rather Or maybe multi-mode enhanced chargers that hold fast to best functional charging conventions.
