Absolutely. I wasn't clear in my missive.
To be sure, there are no functional differences
between information supplied on glass versus
needles . . . indeed, the quality of
useful information on the panel has made
quantum leaps in accuracy and utility with
the micro-controller/LCD era.
The point I was positing was based on
observations of others, including my
own, that it's risky to let any form
of automation supplant your personal
skills. The 'glass panel' reference
was intended to be representative
of automation in general . . . obviously
a gps coupled autopilot could be
crafted with no display whatsoever . . .
in fact I have a design for such a
creature.
Your point is well taken. I'll try
to be more definitive in the future.
