The nameplate 'rating' may or may not meet your design goals for battery-only endurance . . . and the criteria for periodic testing that ultimately takes a battery out of service. What ever battery you purchase is going to start your engine just fine . . . what it's capable of doing a year from now in terms of battery only ops is something you won't know until you test throughout the course of its service life. We've studied and shared experiences with batteries here on the List since day-one. Batteries have played prominent roles in many of the dark-n-stormy-night sagas printed in the aviation rags. I assert that for every battery player in those bad-day-in-the-cockpit stories, NONE of them received any quantified performance monitoring. Further, authors of those stories seldom displayed any understanding of their airplane's electrical physics and function. Bottom line is try any battery that looks good to you for any feature . . . but keep an electronic 'stethoscope' on its innards. "In science there is only physics. All the rest is stamp collecting" -Lord Kelvin- Bob . . . Un impeachable logic: George Carlin asked, "If black boxes survive crashes, why don't they make the whole airplane out of that stuff?" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Other Matronics Email List Services ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Post A New Message aeroelectric-list@matronics.com UN/SUBSCRIBE http://www.matronics.com/subscription List FAQ http://www.matronics.com/FAQ/AeroElectric-List.htm Web Forum Interface To Lists http://forums.matronics.com Matronics List Wiki http://wiki.matronics.com Full Archive Search Engine http://www.matronics.com/search 7-Day List Browse http://www.matronics.com/browse/aeroelectric-list Browse Digests http://www.matronics.com/digest/aeroelectric-list Browse Other Lists http://www.matronics.com/browse Live Online Chat! http://www.matronics.com/chat Archive Downloading http://www.matronics.com/archives Photo Share http://www.matronics.com/photoshare Other Email Lists http://www.matronics.com/emaillists Contributions http://www.matronics.com/contribution ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- These Email List Services are sponsored solely by Matronics and through the generous Contributions of its members.
