From: "rparigoris" Hi Group We're trying to run multiple LEDs together with dismal results. Any ideas? We have four 365nm (UV / Black Light) LEDs. They are from flashlights that run on 2 series AA batteries with no resistor. They are made in China and are touted as 3 Watt, but when running on bench, with 3 volts most will run up to 500mAs, but to make sure we want to limit to 400mAs. We tried running in series with a series potentiometer, some draw more amps than others and brightness is not the same. We tried running parallel resistors with the bright ones, no joy. We tried Constant Current regulator with 4 LEDs and also with 2 LEDs. No joy. Tried parallel and series resistors with the bright LEDs with 2 and 4 LEDs on a constant Current regulator. No joy. Also tried the same with Constant Voltage regulator. No joy. We want to run 4 LEDs together with at least a high and low setting. We can make 1 run fine with a constant current regulator, but it eats up 700mAs to get a regulated 350 mA draw from the LED. The problem with running 4 separate regulators is we would be drawing probably 3 amps on high. I don't know if they make a 4 station variable resistor so you could have 1 knob to control 4 regulators? OK, any ideas how I could control 4 LEDs that don't want to play nice with each other? Second choice would be to run 2 series. Thx. Ron P. Sorry for the relative silence. My email service has been on the fritz (on account of new Google 'security' features) for several weeks. I think we're close to resolving the issues. So for you folks that are missing replies from me . . . especially those with gmail accounts . . . I expect to be up and running shortly. Thanks a lot for your help, BTW will the next edition of your book include these new diagrams? The latest diagrams on on the website. Z101B is current at http://aeroelectric.com/PPS/ACAD_Architecture_Dwgs/Z101B.dwg The z-figures folders are where upgrades take place to be included in future editions. Rev 12 is current.
