Considering that this is available and that the majority of the replacement alternator part s for internally regulated alternators are made in China and the third worl d, why would you want an internally regulated alternator? Yahoo Mail: Search, Organize, Conquer On Sat, Oct 5, 2024 at 11:39 PM, Charlie England wr ote: The older regulators in IR=C2- alternators often didn't have 'load dump' protection. People were 'testing' their OV modules with the alternat or under load, and the resulting voltage spike when the relay opened would kill the internal regulator. So instead of invoking the HeHaw Doctor=C2- principle (if it hurts when you do that,=C2- don't do that), the recommen dation became,=C2- don't use IR alternators. With the price of new alternators on e would think the NOS Japanese made alternators would be a popular substitu tion.
