Troubleshoot. Simple stuff first; open the connections between the devices, one
at a time, until both sides work again. Then start adding things and testing.
My bet is that one channel's signal wire got swapped with the ground.
Unless you're saying that one side in the headsets is dead in all modes (comm &
intercom reception in addition to the alert signal). If that's the case, my money
would be on something external to the 3 wires that were changed, got messed
up during the dive under the panel.
A problem on the music input should not (emphasis on 'should') affect output except
for whatever is feeding the music input.
