Have you already purchased that PlanePower alternator? I hope not. They are basically a Chinese made clone of the Nippon Denso alternators used on Hondas, Toyotas & Chrysler products. They have a terrible reputation on the Vans Airforce forum. Many fail within 400 hours. Better to use a real Nippon Denso alternator as has been discussed on this forum for many years. Two of the recent linked below: https://vansairforce.net/threads/planepower-hartzell-12v-60a-alternator-failed.234909/#post-1841787 https://vansairforce.net/threads/planepower-60a-alt-failure-mode-loose-back-cover-screws-looking-for-serviceable-part.232670/ These internally regulated alternators can easily [only need to remove the sheet steel rear cover] be converted to external regulation, is so desired. I've done this to my ND alternator for about $20. That was a few years ago, so parts prices are probably higher now. I can supply instructions with photos off list if interested. Charlie: I agree- plan to remove the Plane Power when the engine arrives! I got the name wrong in my initial post: I purchased the B&C LX60, because of the bad reviews of Plane-Power alternators on VAF. I have the B&C on the shelf, waiting on engine delivery (Dec 2025 is the latest promise) so I can remove the PP and install the B&C unit. I read quite a lot about the Denso for my 86 Suzuki Samurai [Wink] and auto parts availability is appealing. Sorry for my mix-up.
