Subject: | Re: Overvoltage Protection Relay Driver |
I just uploaded a revised copy of the documentation for this project (now attached
to the original post, above).
There was an error in the values specified for resistors R3 and R5. R3 should
be 1.02k and R5 should be 10.2k (these were swapped in the original document).
The schematic, bill of materials, theory of operation and Digi-Key parts list
have been updated to reflect the correct reference designators and values.
The original circuit board layout is correct and there are no new resistor values
in the schematic; it was just a transposition. If you ordered boards and components,
they will work perfectly fine; you just need to be sure that R3 and
R5 are swapped to the correct values, as indicated above.
Eric

Subject: | Low Voltage Warning Module |
This project is a low voltage warning module based on Mr. Nuckolls' AEC 9005-110-X
schematic, which he proposed in 2002 (attached below). This circuit monitors
the connected bus voltage and flashes an LED at 1 Hz whenever the bus is below
13.0V.
To the best of my knowledge, the 2002 preliminary design was never prototyped or
turned into a product.
It seemed very useful, so I re-drew the schematic, laid out a circuit board and
tested the module. It works exactly as expected. Documentation is attached
to this post, which includes links for circuit boards and components.
If this interests you, don't order anything immediately. I'll be offering many
of my recent prototypes to forum members within the next few days, once I get
them organized...

Subject: | Project Prototype Clear-Out |
I have several prototypes for recent projects on my bench that are excess to requirements.
I'm offering them to anyone who wants one. Prices reflect my cost
for circuit boards and components (no labor). Shipping will be via USPS Ground
Advantage (cost calculated by eBay). First come, first served.
To make this manageable and easy for everyone, each item is listed on eBay by Item
#, as indicated below. To discourage random buyers from taking them, there
are cryptic titles and no descriptions or photos on the eBay listings. Just
click the link and purchase the Item # that matches the item you want. If the
eBay link is dead, the item is sold out.
NOTES:
1. These are experimental prototypes, not commercially produced products. I'm
a hobbyist, not an electrical engineer. I designed, built and tested these items
to the best of my ability, but I cannot and do not guarantee that their operation
will satisfy your particular needs.
2. Before you install one of the overvoltage protection modules (OVM-14 Mk III
-or- OVP Relay Driver), please read all warnings in the documentation carefully.
3. If you have any questions, please ask before purchasing. No returns. Tech
support is limited to the documentation posted on this forum and my ability to
answer questions here.
4. Shipping may not be immediate, as I won't be visiting the post office every
day. Please expect some delay before shipment. The eBay listings indicate three
business days; it may take longer.
Thank you!
Here's what I have available:
----------
ITEM #1 ($16.15 ea):
5 available. OVM-14 Mk III Crowbar Overvoltage Protection modules. Assembled and
tested. Includes two 1/4" Molex Avikrimp (equivalent to PIDG) quick-connect
crimp terminals and a piece of heat shrink to cover the module.

----------
ITEM #2 ($15.90 ea):
2 available. Elevator Trim Left Stick Priority modules. Assembled and tested.
Includes the mating D-Sub connector, 10 stamped-and-formed D-Sub pins (9 required)
and two backshells (one for the module and one for the mating connector).

----------
ITEM #3 ($17.85 ea):
1 available. Overvoltage Protection Relay Driver. Assembled and tested. Includes
a flanged enclosure box with wire exit grommet. Does not include PUSH ISOLATE
switch. Board has 12" wires (M22759/16-22) attached.

----------
ITEM #4 ($10.55 ea):
4 available. Overvoltage Protection Relay Driver. Assembled and tested circuit
board ONLY. Does not include the enclosure box, grommet or PUSH ISOLATE switch.
No attached wires.

----------
ITEM #5 ($23.30 ea):
2 available. Landing & Taxi Light Wig-Wag Controller. These modules will alternately
double-flash LED lights drawing up to 5A each. You can see this module
in action in this video clip (watch the hangar door in front of the airplane;
the landing lights -- off-road "pod lights" on my friend's Kitfox -- are being
flashed by this module for about 10 seconds):

These are tiny, double-sided surface-mount boards, so I have assembled and tested
them. There's a very small potentiometer on the board to adjust flash rate;
you'll need a jeweler's screwdriver. Each module includes a mating connector,
10 stamped-and-formed D-Sub pins (9 required), and two backshells (one for
the module and one for the mating connector).

Assembled and tested. Flashes an LED (included) when the monitored bus goes
below 13V.

ITEM #7 (Free!):
2 available. Low Voltage Warning Module bare circuit board ONLY (no components
installed or included).

If you want one of these, send me an email or a private message (go to the Project
Details link and click the "PM" button at the bottom of the first post).
Include your name and mailing address (U.S. and Canada only, please). I'll edit
this post to indicate when these boards are gone.
