'Normal' 95 octane 91 octane 95 Gasohol (ethanol) either E5 or E10 Normally I use normal 95 but many areas of Thailand no longer have it and I have to fuel up with 91 with a higher risk of detonation. I was advised not to use ethanol because it may not be compatible with the fiberglass fuel tank and also because of high humidity here. I know a friend using ethanol in his Zenair 701 without problems (but that has aluminum tanks) and most cars here run on E10 but I have also heard horror stories about ethanol. A friend used ethanol on his motorbike and after leaving it standing while he was away for 2 months, the carburetor system was ruined by a hard residue deposited everywhere. What fuel does everyone else use for the 100 hp and is gasohol / ethanol safe in the Allegro fuel system? My A&P didn't think it made sense, but it worked. ( at least for minor air near the top of the system) I also found it really helpful to have a syringe with a flexible attachment end where the needl e usually goes (don't know the name... got it from my wife who works at a vet clinic). I did a lot of troubleshooting before realizing my problem was the rubber plunger tip on the cylinder. I was quickly able to get a new one from B Bar D. So if you have soft brakes that is one thing to check. As for B Bar D and recent news about getting back into production and par ts, I'm happy to say that after I recently reminded them I was waiting fo r a wing-tip light cover for almost a year, within a few days I received one, with a note of apology for the delay and no charge. Seems like a sig n of good things to come. Maybe next I'll write to them and say I have been waiting for a 100 hp Ro tax upgrade for over a year, along with wing tanks, and see if those are free too. I replaced the disk pads and bled the s ystem a couple of years ago. One point is that there are TINY fluid trans fer holes in the bottom of the piston which need to be cleaned and checke d. From memory, the set screw protrudes exactly between the ears of the c irclip below. If they are not lined up, the set screw will not screw down . Recently I renewed all the seals in the whole system but the original E vektor master cylinder didn't feel soild so I replaced it with a Matco wh ich works great. The outlets are at 90 degrees to the original and the ve rtical mounting post had to be elongated but otherwise it was a simple sw op. I use silicon DOT 5 because of the humidity in Thailand (and it is sa fe on paintwork) Paul Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronic ======================== ====================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Other Matronics Email List Services ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Post A New Message allegro-list@matronics.com UN/SUBSCRIBE http://www.matronics.com/subscription List FAQ http://www.matronics.com/FAQ/Allegro-List.htm Web Forum Interface To Lists http://forums.matronics.com Matronics List Wiki http://wiki.matronics.com Full Archive Search Engine http://www.matronics.com/search 7-Day List Browse http://www.matronics.com/browse/allegro-list Browse Digests http://www.matronics.com/digest/allegro-list Browse Other Lists http://www.matronics.com/browse Live Online Chat! http://www.matronics.com/chat Archive Downloading http://www.matronics.com/archives Photo Share http://www.matronics.com/photoshare Other Email Lists http://www.matronics.com/emaillists Contributions http://www.matronics.com/contribution ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- These Email List Services are sponsored solely by Matronics and through the generous Contributions of its members.
