Bill,
Another good question. Yes, you can remove the center console. Underneath
there is the fuel sending unit. It is held in place by four set-in bolts.
Remove the nuts and the entire white unit can be removed...take care to not
bend the float rod and float when you remove it. This gives another larger
hole for access. In addition, you will want to remove the fuel feed line
going to the flooring under the front floor boards. When you remove this,
the entire rod insert and attached strainer will come out as well. In
addition, you will want to remove the bottom fuel drain plug, then coat both
the bottom and fuel feed threads that remain in the tank with a grease to
prevent slosh coating "fowling" the threads. Please let me know if you need
additional information.

Hello, I have been having black flakes of what looks like the coating inside
the fuel tank clogging the quick drain.
I was wondering if there is an opening (other than the fuel fill) on top of
the tank that would allow a cleaning and re coating of the fuel tank
interior?

Thank you Doug. Do you recommend the same coating that you recommend for the newer
Allegro? The Bill Hirsch product that you mentioned some time ago.

Yes, the Bill Hirsch product from Aircraft Spruce. Reasonably priced and
VERY effective.
Thanks,
Doug
