Subject: | Average Fuel Burn |
I have an Allegro 2000 with a 912UL 80 HP engine.
The operators manual suggests premium auto gas, which is what I have used almost
exclusively. Prior to my recent annual inspection I was burning on average
two gallons of fuel per hour. During the annual I had the carbs rebuilt and did
the ROTAX 5 year rubber replacement. Now I am averaging 1.775 gallons of fuel
per hour.
Am I extremely fortunate or is this normal for the little bird?

Scott,
If your numbers are correct you are indeed fortunate. I am in North Carolina
and have an Allegro 2000 ELS (N661WW) with almost 800 hours on my Rotax 912
UL 80 HP engine. I built the airplane from the Kit ten years ago. I have
been the sole owner and I keep my carbs pneumatically balanced. The best
average fuel consumption I have ever gotten was 3.0 gph. At the present my
fuel consumption is averaging 3.6 gph. I burn exclusively ethanol free auto
fuel (MOGAS) either 90 octane or 87 octane. Where are you located Scott?
