I thought maybe some of the rest of you might have a need to do this so here are my instructions and suggestions. 1. I went to: http://dms.dot.gov and clicked on the "comment/submissions" tab. You can also do a search at this point. 2. I clicked continue on the next page. 3. After entering the docket number. You only need to enter 14293; the digits after the dash. It then took me to the comment page. It is probably best to enter in your personal data but it doesn't not seem to be required. 4 .Enter you comment in the box and click on submit. That's all. HINT! You can copy and paste in your comments so I composed and Spell Checked it in Outlook Express but you could do the same copy and paste from a word processor. I need this to make me look intelligent. SECURITY --> Avionics-List message posted by: Finn Lassen I did in fact just read it. There is a saying that "absolute power corrupts absolutely", and although I don't beleive that's a given, it does open the door for abuse. Even though the powers that administers the regulation are well intentioned now, that may not be so in the future. So an avenue of review and arbitration by a different agency, qualified and cleared to review the information, should be allowed for. Col. in the Air Force is presently doing the same over seas. If the little people like me and you don't say something, then we will be in a society much like Nazi Germany. So it time to stand up and be counted. Send you comments to the docket. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Matthew Mucker" Subject: RE: Avionics-List: Be Aware FAA can pull anyones license without recourse.. SECURITY --> Avionics-List message posted by: "Dave O'Donnell" Have you ever noticed how all too frequently legislation or rules serve more to hamper the innocent than the guilty? In my mind that's what this is about. Power is too frequently abused. What real security threat would be stopped by the FAA telling them that their ticket is gone? As pilots we know the real story & I am not even going to put it in print. The truth is this would only stop the ones that are not really security risks in the first place. I agree with the goal, to stop security threats, but to get there you need to do something more serious than chase perfunctory paper. People appear to think we are one more new law away from being safe. The sorry sorry truth is if we would just enforce existing laws, illegal aliens would not be hijacking planes, and we would not be discussing the possibility of loosing our cherished freedoms. I have commented as urged below, and urge others to so the same. SECURITY --> Avionics-List message posted by: "Matthew Mucker" One caution that I would suggest would be to READ the legislation before commenting on it. Or get a summary of the legislation from a reliable source. (I expect AOPA and EAA to get in on the action real soon now). There's nothing like blowing your stack only to find out later you were misinformed about the whole thing. -Matt do not archive > > --> Avionics-List message posted by: "Jim & Jeanette Oberst" > > > Thanks.
