The noise is in both the pilot and passenger headsets. It is bad enough that I have a difficult time hearing transmissions from NAV sources (weather, FSS, etc.) It also seems to be picking up surrounding EMF that was not an issue previously. I borrowed another KN 53 and got the same result. Also, it is there with the engine not running, but other avionic units powered up. Understand this was not a problem until recently. I checked the connections to the antenna and they seem OK. The antenna does not appear to have any damage. If the antenna leadwire shielding broke at the tray connector, would it result in this kind of problem? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
