I have gone through three sets of prop seals in three hundred hours. This is the hartzell conversion. My A&P doesn't know what it might be so he is reccommending that the oil trasfer collar be sent to Hartzell for rebuild. Has anyone had this experience - I am sure it will be memorable. Thanks. He is undoubtedly the most knowledgeable person in the country when it comes to E-series engines and Hartzell Props for that engine. You can contact him through the ABS office. I went through a similar problem and had my OTU sent out to a company in Florida who specializes in rebuilds. Very responsive and quick turn around. There was a hairline crack that was determined to find it useless. He found another unit that could be rebuilt, cheaper than a new one from Hartzell. I haven't had a problem since. There are only about a half a dozen places in the country that are certified to work on the OTU's. If you are close to Piqua, the Hartzell airport, you can fly in and possibly have the work done the same day?? They do schedule appointments. I will do this for my clamp(s) inspection. Good Luck.
