| Subject: | some political commentary from me?? |

      Greetings friends

I wrote this not to indict any particular party or to propose that I am right,
      but
primarily in defense of the truth which I believe my facts represent. As always,
I am open to being shown that I am wrong by more knowledgeable people then myself
      so bring it on!!

NBC ran a story complaining that British Airways
was flying 747's across the Ocean with no passengers (only cargo which by the
way produces far more revenue then people, doesn't complain or cry or get too
hot or too cold or want free tickets . . . well you get the idea.)

In it they stated and I heard it many times and verified it on their website to

quiet the sceptics that these flights burned 20000 gallons of jet fuel and produced
400 tons of carbon. Being a pilot I had to do the math,

      400 x 2000 pounds per ton = 800000 pounds of carbon

Jet fuel weighs 6.7 pounds per gallon for a total of

      20,000 x 6.7 = 134000 pounds.

800,000 pounds, by the way is the approximate max takeoff weight of a fully loaded
      747-400 (the latest variant)

I actually searched the network website and found a cute little "Where do we
get our information?" link that sent me to what appeared to be a governmnet information
      website (which actually
is more likely an environmentalist site in disguise) that did indeed state that

1 gallon of jet fuel produces 22.?? some pounds of Carbon when burned. Again
      basic
physics?? How do you destroy something that weighs 6.7 pounds and produce 22 pounds
of matter?? As I said in my letter to the CBS new editors; this would likely solve
all of the worlds energy problems for eternity and grant a Nobel prize for science
to its discoverer. I also mentioned that they might want to buy a calculator for
the news room and check their facts that come from so called reliable sources.
      Oh
and guess what . . they never replied!

Now unless I am missing some new math here this is the kind of insanity that harms
the need for a clean environment. The truth needs no embellishment but
"oh what tangled webs we weave when first we practice to deceive."

Ok just so you know I am not making this up.
Here is the story including the "outraged" environmentalists that by the
way suggest that you make a donation to Greenpeace or some such instead of flying.

Oh and let me correct one thing. They did not say CO2 which is just as bad whether
a gas or not, but they actually said repeatedly "Carbon" which as we all
      know is a solid element.

If you go their website for NBC news you can find the source of their information.
