18/12/2002 09:24:55 --> Commander-List message posted by: Barry.Collman@airclaims.co.uk Hi Chaps, I already replied direct to bilbo on this. Some Commanders were fitted with SLAR (Side-Looking Airborne Radar) many years ago. I hadn't heard of SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar). There's a company here in the UK that uses a Turbo Commander to undertake mapping projects using radar, Cooper Aerial Surveys Ltd.. This involves having pods either side of the fuselage near the front of the cabin. However, because the fuselage flexes when pressurization takes place, this would cause the radar pods to move apart, and they would lose their definition. Therefore a metal bar was inserted transversely through the fuselage, and the pods were mounted at each end. The system is STC'd under SA00884NY, and may be SAR. I don't know enough about radar systems to confirm it though! Very Best Regards, Barry C. I have a nephew at the Sandia National Laboratory who may try to get one installed. bilbo

All cabels, cannon plugs and so forth that go through this bulkhead must be sealed. Also, the upholstery in this area is "glued on" rather than ' screwed down" Moe N680RR

    Subject: HOME AT LAST
--> Commander-List message posted by: YOURTCFG@aol.com HI KIDS...... I finally moved triple 2 home after a week at Troutdale. Flew to Aurora State first to pick up a temp probe for my new Becker com. Nice to be back in the air again!! Also, spoke with Merlin products today and Larry Wokrals 500B flew today for the first time with the new 320 hp, single turbo, wide deck engines installed, all went very well. And, I have an ex Commander owner who has some parts to sell, including brake pucks for the Goodyear's, anybody need any?? I am planing a trip in triple to Sandpoint, ID for Christmas, weather permitting. I hope to meet with Ernie Martin, owner of a 560A (HC) (and a Grumman Albatross, Grumman Mallard and Cessna Citation). He will be installing the "Heavy Hartzel" propellers soon and I will be delivering his STC (and installing his props if he has all the parts by then) Hope all is well in "Commanderland" jb
