--> Commander-List message posted by: ALLAN L HOFFMAN <alh1@juno.com> This is spectacular footage of the Air Force's Dragon Gunships working out in Afghanistan. These are four engine guys with guns sticking out the side of the fuselage. They are slow and simply go into orbit around a target. Obviously, we must maintain air supremacy to allow them to loiter over a target like this. The gunships can lay down a field of fire which covers every square foot on a football field in less than 10 seconds. However, the weaponry used in this shot must be "smart." Our Air Force in Action. --> Commander-List message posted by: YOURTCFG@aol.com HI KIDS... I was just pursuing my IA TCDS file and stumbled onto the PERFECT aircraft engine!! I was actually certified by Lycoming in 1959, but I have never seen one?? It is a GSO-580. It has the same bore and stroke of the GO- 435 but had 8 cylinders!! It was supercharged and used the same gear ratio and the 480 series but made 400 HP for TO. Used a bendix pressure carb with a huge venture. I WANT ONE!! Actually two. Would that be a cool engine for my 680F (P) or what!! jb

Big project but will be the "commander of my dreams" when I am finished. I plan to move the pressure bulkhead to the rear of the baggage area, like the 1000. This will allow the expansion of the cabin into that area. Also, plan to eliminate the fuel cells and "wet wing" the airplane, like the 1000. All of the control surfaces and stabilizers will be reskined with smooth aluminum and it will have gap seals on the elevator and rudder. I plan a different design winglet, more like the corporate jets you see and a long stinger tail from a turbine. It will have "bleed air" preeurization at 5.5 differential and freon A/C. I am concidering using the belly of the airplane as the pressuer vessel instead ofthe floor?? I will install electric rudder and elevator trim systems and about a hundred other things the airplane could really use. Hope I live long enough to finish it!! jb

--> Commander-List message posted by: MOEMILLS@aol.com Commander drivers, The fuel flow gage on my 680F(p) with IGSO540B1A engines does not work for either engine. I have been told that the problem is most likely the transducers and not the gage. Does anyone have a suggestion as to who could test or rework the gage and transducers? Thanx! Moe Mills N680RR

Always wished Lyc had gone forward with some of the engines that were dropped. How about this one: a liquid cooled, supercharged, gear-reduced flat 12 designed to fit inside of the wing of an aircraft! http://www.prime-mover.org/Engines/Images/lyco1230.jpg Chris Schuermann

--> Commander-List message posted by: "Nico van Niekerk" <nico@cybersuperstore.com> It's amazing what people would do to one another. The two towers were 110 floors each filled with computers, desks, cabinets and thousands of other stuff - and people. A fire fighter said during the cleanup process, while holding up half of a telephone's IC board, 'it's the biggest piece of recognizable rubble found so far.' Everything was ground to a powder. And I think, shoot the crap out of them. Not only because of the towers, but because they would do it again in a heartbeat and were probably planning to do just that. I think it was Tony Blair who said: we shouldn't imagine that if they had an opportunity to kill 70,000 people on 9/11 that they would have recoiled and said that it was too many people that would die. They would have jumped at the opportunity to kill 700,000 people if they could. It remains sad, however. There should be praises of gratitude going up because of the accuracy of our boys out there. In the not too distant past, hundreds of thousands of bystanders would have been sacrificed to root out the rot. Now, at least, they can be picked off one-by-one. Amazing technology. An amazing weapon.
