To: commander-list@matronics.com Subject: Wanted: WINSLOW AEROFILTER CO SOCKS! My bird needs a pair of new SOCKS! I am refering to the Winslow Aerofilter Co. Full Flow filter cartridge P/N 1AO586 or for the kit that includes a new seal for the pressure vessel an new nut for the marmon clamp, the P/N is A0286. These were the original FULL FLOW oil filters of the 60's and 70's.. Pretty big, about 9 inches long and 4 1/2 inch diameter, contained in an equally impressive pressure vessel. These Oil Filters were installed by STC on a number of civil aircraft, including: Aerocommander 560, 690 and 720 series, Beechcraft 50 and 65 series Bell 47 and 476 series Stearman 75's Dornier Do28-A and -B Hiller UH12 series helicopters The military installed them on just about anything with a reciprocating engine. Mos people have converted to spin-ons, which makes me hope there are lots of these things sitting around in the corner of somebodies hanger. If you have any,,, I will be glad to take them off your hands. If you know of anyone that has some... pass the word, or let me know who/where. Thanks for the help. L.Martini

Is that a correct statement. I know that these engines were also STC'd for the Navion, and I believe some Beech aircraft. I am looking for a set of 10133 blades (about 96 inch big boys) which would have fit on these engines using hub HC-82X20- or HC-A2-X20- . I did notice that somebody on the list indicated that the Military had used this prop on their commanders if anybody out there knows where to get some of these blades... Give me a holler. Thanks Luc Martini... I need a double about now!

    Subject: Chat-DAMN THING
--> Commander-List message posted by: "Bow" <w.bow@att.net> Because of a number of "things", I almost sold the 500A Tuesday. Nearly half of the money I have spent on the "pit" has gone to bad vendors. From electric boost pumps(twice to one vendor, once to another), to fuel cells(3 times), hydraulic pump(twice in 4 months same leak). This over stressed US BOTH. I began discussing a less complicated(cheaper) replacement plane and was going nowhere. Tuesday AM my "co-pilot" said she didn't really want to sell it. I responded that I had made a verbal commitment and I would show the airplane as promised. I leak checked the hydraulic pump and gassed the plane up for the ride to the prospective buyer. After the run up and before the take off roll I always look at the engines. The right engine was puking out oil. I returned to the tiedown spot and parked it. It took me about 2 hours to get somebody to look in the nacelle while I ran it. This time the vendor was ME. I failed to put the gasket on the pump, now the day was shot. The DAMN THING wouldn't even run to get sold. I think in its little metal brain it knew what was going on and it didn't want to go. After the dinner discussion it was decided to keep "the pit", and replace the offending engine which has been responsible for a number of annoyances in the past. The prospective buyer is a member of this list and he very graciously accepted my apologies when I withdrew the airplane from the market. My thanks to him. bilbo (keeper of the DAMN THING)
