The I A that has been working on my plane is leaving and the "helper" is taking over the shop. He's good but he doesn't have the experience of my regular guy. A good maint. manual would be of great help to both of us. Thanks Harry for the name number of the carb shop. I spoke to him this morning. I'm sending the carb out to him tomorrow. Subject: Re: Commander-List: Pressure Carbs --> Commander-List message posted by: "Martini Luc J.R." OK... As it turns out, Precision AI has spun off a company that does the pressure carb. They are now PRECISION ENGINE, located at Paine Field (near Boeing 747 et al. Plant) , i.e. Everett Washington by any other name. Their number is 425-347-2800 Talk to a guy named Bob Dalton, a real standup sort of guy. Their shop rate is $75 an hour... that is $10 bucks an hour less than what I get charged for some high school dropout to change the oil on my Subaru. When you send your Carb in, ask for a REPAIR. They will check the diaphrams and seals, and if they check OK, do a FLOW TEST, at the hourly rate. If your lucky, it should cost less than half what a complete Overhaul costs (OVHL is around $1600). The dent was $900 and worth it. The engine runs perfect in full rich setting from TO to LAND. -----Original Message----- From: owner-commander-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-commander-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of Martini Luc J.R. Strong words "comrad" :-) Well, I've almost concluded that I truely found a diamond in the rough. Under the most awful paint ever seen on an airplane appears to be one of the most pristine airframes we've ever seen. We currently have the airplane just about totally disassembled and have found only a handful of trivial items to attend to. Hope to have her back in the air in less than 60 days. Would love to do some avionics upgrades, but the basics are there and they'll just have to serve until finances permit. Sure looking forward to getting back in the air! chris ________________________________ Message 11 ____________________________________ Time: 05:45:59 PM PST US From: Bill Hamilton Subject: Re: Commander-List: Pressure Carbs. --> Commander-List message posted by: Bill Hamilton All, I can tell you, from experience, that Precision do a great job on big pressure carbs, I have their work on my R-1820-86A in an AT-28D, we use them for the same on R-1830 0n DC-3, I would bet they would do an equally god job on small carbs., and they are most pleasant people to deal with. They have been in the big piston business for along, long time. Regards, Bill Hamilton.
