Bill,
Thanks for the tip, I usually use Thunder Aviation in Sun Valley,
California, but in part I am taking their advice, which is to go to modern
pumps.
I always carry a spare pump in the T-28, but I can still buy those new old
stock, Thunder just check them over, new seals etc, and give me an 8130.3.
For my 500A, I need a spare, everywhere is a long way from anywhere in
Australia, and the quotes for a spare, OHC, and Thunder's advice, have
pointed me in this direction.
Cheers,
Bill Hamilton.

Thanks Nico!
Business is finally starting to pick back up a bit. There was so much
red ink over the last two years the balance sheet looked like a prop
from the "Texas chainsaw massacre"! Sadly, aviation was one of the
first things impacted. I'm finally back in the air and have really been
enjoying my Aztruck. What a sweet little twin to fly on a tight budget.

I actually did not know that. I definitly didn't intend to frighten
anyone, but I do feel strongly that this is an issue to be dealt with
proactivly rather than waiting for the eventual trauma to occur. An
inspection of this part should fall under normal inspection proceedures
except that the critical area is hidden and a lot of folks just don't
know to look there. Right now, it's a simple issue of identifying a
damaged part and repairing or replacing as required. If someone does
have an inflight failure, it could end up being a blemish on the
perception of Commanders and we don't need another one of those! We all
know that the FAA would issue some draconian AD requiring a total
rebuild of the wing structure or something like that. There's also a
side brace in the nacelle that attaches to the wing spar at the extreme
forward/outboard edge that seems to need inspection as well. The attach
point in my 520 was 90% rotted through and probably would have failed if
I'd have made a crossed-up landing. Fortunatly, the FAA is looking to
"type clubs" for assistance in assuring that all the old airplanes are
being maintained in a safe condition. The TCFG is just going to become
more and more valuable in protecting the value of these airplanes and
the safety of the owners as time goes on.

Thanks again Nico. I'll endevor to do both! Take care.

Hey guys, this problem existed on my 560e. I got it fixed with a 8110 from Fred
Gates out of Oklahoma, basically by using doubler plates after removing all corrision
and an eddie current test. THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH OUR FLEET. THE
CORRISON SEEM BY THE EYE IS LESS THAN 50% OF WHAT'S ACTUALLY PRESENT.

I have been contacted by a Service Center who is trying to install a
set of Cleveland's on a straight 560 (no STC) I know we have addressed this
before, does anybody have the name of a 560 owner who has done this who might
share their 337 form?? Thanks. jb
