Back in the days I was flying Milt's old plane -- N414C -- I needed to get the Wilcox repaired. The shop in Kansas City was able to cobble it together but told me it was the last time. That was in 1996. If I'm not mistaken, it uses a vacuum tube in the power supply and that's what's impossible to find. Symptoms of it going bad was the transponder spraying out random squawk codes that drove ATC nuts. Does this sound like what your Wilcox is doing? If so, it may be time to use it for a bookend.
