      Brock:

      Sorry if I missed it: where are you based? I am in Southern Cal and the
      mechanic I am working with here, Fred Holstein, is first rate. He has
      been doing a great job on my 500A Colemill, but has no experience on any
      other Commanders.

      Wanted:

      Aircraft mechanic for AC 680 FL(P) with Mr RPM conversion. Must realize
      that quick pay/sure pay is a good, rare customer that must be treasured.

      Must realize that badmouthing the mechanic before is ironic unless he
      can
      fix the problem himself. Must be willing to admit when he's over his
      head
      (extra points for consulting the maintenance manual once in a while).
      Must
      make a committment to finish any job tackled (including the paperwork).
      Must return the aircraft in at least as good of shape as you received
      it.
      Underpromising and overdelivering highly desired.

      - No training pay provided. If you don't know the airframe and engines,
      maybe YOU can pay for your schooling like I have.
      - Parts swappers need not apply. I can guess; applicant must have
      troubleshooting skills.
      - If you don't want the job, or don't have time, or have more projects
      than
      you could ever possibly complete, please do not apply.
      - Must pass basic communications test that includes answering the phone,
      and returning messages (completion standard: +/- 48 hours from when you
      said you'd call).

      If anyone knows someone that could pass the requirements above
      (regardless
      of location) please let me know. If you can't guess, I've had it with
      one
      more shop!

      Thanks,
      Brock Lorber

      Las Vegas. Socal is plenty close, but, if at all possible, I want to have
      someone familiar with the actual model (I've trained half the mechanics in
      Vegas on it already, I don't need to franchise my pain :) Commander Gordon
      said it best last night: experience w/Commanders is rare, experience
      w/680FL(P) is limited to a handful of guys. Even so, I need to at least
      search for them!

      Please send me Fred's contact info. If I don't find anyone, I'll give him
      a yell.

      Thank you,
      Brock

      Fred is available at 714/390-6798. He is both an A&P and IA, as is his
      son Jeff, who works with him. They have an active [read busy] practice
      based at SNA. They have taken care of many things on my 500A,
      including:
      * R
      * rebuild the power brake cylinder;
      * replace the fuel filter bodies;
      * find and fix electrical problems;

      If you end up doing something with him, I only ask that you make it
      absolutely clear that my bird is higher priority than yours. ;>)

      Good luck. Finding a reliable, talented, commonsense mechanic [who has
      one more just like that in the family] is not an easy task. I'm spoiled.
