Hey folks,
I double checked and Matt Dralle's earlier post says it's OK to post about new
aviation products as long as the message doesn't come off as having a "flavor"
of "traditional spam". Don't worry I'm not going to try to sell you anything
that supposedly makes any of your body parts larger (or smaller) and this product
is directly aviation related :) I'm just an airplane builder, owner, pilot,
and aviation nut who wants to tell you where you can find more information about
a great new product.
I've been selling kits of vortex generators (VG's) for only $95 and my customers are telling me they really like the performance gains they're seeing. VG's are great for reducing stall speeds and allow you to land slower, shorter, and safer. I invite you to check out my site at www.landshorter.com and see what you think. My VG's can be quickly installed for testing using removable double-stick tape and come with a 100% money-back guarantee so why not try them out on your plane? You'll be really glad you did :)
Thanks and let's keep 'em flying!
Joa Harrison

I may be in a grumpy mood, having to do with dumping my personal weekend
plans to jet several sets of golf clubs and their operators all over the place,
but ...
... as someone who has begged for research on vortex generators for the
Commanders for over 10 years, I'm a bit put off by the notion one can buy a bunch
of thingies and stick them on their airplane (especially a multi engine
airplane) and go test fly.
A quote from Boundary Layer Research's web site: "
> The layout of our VGs is determined for each aircraft through extensive
> flight testing and substantial supporting engineering studies and reports. Each
> of our kits is certified by the FAA with an STC for that model aircraft."
Around 1993 I brought an AC-680FP to Charles White of Microaerodynamics
(Anacortes, WA) to evaluate the Commander for VGs -- I had a client who operated
off an extremely short strip.
His assessment was that "the wing is as good as it gets" but that he thought
Vmc could be eliminated by placing VGs on the vertical stabililzier, or, on
the leading edge of the rudder -- with lots of testing to be done.
In this business (run by an bunch of Boeing engineers) the VG placement is
modeled, then test flown with a fully flight test instrumented and tufted
aircraft.
The bottom line was the bottom line -- there wasn't the fleet numbers to
justify the R&D costs for the Commanders.
I still would like to see VGs explored for the Commanders, but it's not
something I'd ask any of my friends to experiment with. Jeeeeezzzz I'm getting
conservative, aren't I?

You never get something(STC) for nothing($95.00). It's the difference
between chicken s**t and chicken salad.
It didn't blow away.
