Nico,
I had an early morning show video interview done with me and a couple of
their anchors for my company's' Home Drug Tests a few years ago. They gave
me a copy, only after prodding and asking a few times. I will research my
notes and get in touch with those earlier contacts and see if they will
continue to return the favor. Be patient here and I will advise when a copy
is made available.

What an amazing aircraft. I have never seen anything like it. Cockpit gone,
pilots OK. Aircraft destroyed, left engine runs like crazy. TV crew on the
scene, news anchor has no idea what he is talking about. Not even the guy in
the chopper knows aircraft terms and language. Par for the course. It seems
evident that the guy who poked around in the wheel well was trying to
disconnect a fuel line or something to stop the engine.
Anyway, what an amazing bit of footage. Pity we cannot get that on our
website to preserve it. KVBC will take it off their website in a few days
and then we won't have access to it. Is there anyone who knows someone over
there who could talk them into giving us the video clip? We will host it
with all proper credits, or they could let us have a deep link to it in
their archive. We will keep it with the uninformed news anchors intact.
If anyone could help, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Nico

Good Morning nico,
It is very sad to see a nice airplane meet a fate like that.
I do have quite a bit of time flying N7UP, but it wasn't a Commander then.
If you don't mind, I would like to add a bit of history to the tale. The
registration number, N7UP, was held by the Union Pacific Railroad, but had not
yet been assigned to an aircraft.
We sold a 1968 Beechcraft B55 Baron to a local beverage bottler. He applied
to the feds for that number and was informed that the railroad had it
reserved. After making direct contact with the president of the railroad, the
number was released and applied to the Baron.
I have no knowledge as to when the registration left the Baron and whether
it was applied to any other aircraft before it went to the Commander, but it
was on the Baron in the 1968 to 1972 time frame, plus or minus a couple of
years.

Hi Gang,
Regarding N7UP, I too do not have any knowledge on which aircraft had that mark
assigned before the 680FL, apart now from the Baron of course.
However, I do know that it was assigned to the Commander on September 29th 1979,
painted on October 24th and registered as such with the FAA on December 6th
1979. Before that it was N777UP (Mar77 to Sep79) and N78353.
Our friends at Commander Northwest bought it from Seven Up Bottling Company of
San Francisco on January 14th 1991.
N777UP was also on a much earlier Commander owned by 7UP, namely Model 560, s/n
163, from April 1963 to February 1977.
Best Regards,
Barry

I am so sorry to hear for the lose of life and of course "7UP" I ran across
7UP a couple of years ago while fueling a Beaver on floats I was delivering.
I have felt like you, so discouraged at the loss of an airplane and the
occupants. Sadly, It is just part of aviation. In the summer of 1987, I was
crop dusting in Idaho's Treasure Valley. That year, there were 6 fatal and one
non fatal accidents. The funerals of my friends were so close together that
I could not attend all of them. I was the lone 'non-fatal" crash. I
destroyed a beautiful Thrush Commander S2R-600.
Don't give up!! The work you do with these airplanes is important and
nobody does it better that Commander NW. I pray God will give you strength in
this time of loss.
If there is anything any of us can do, please ask. God Bless

Thanks Bert - wonderfull collection!
JB, there is a pretty significan collection of old ads on the old web
site. The links are currently broken, but it appears that the
collection I'd accumulated is mostly still there. Could you repair the
links and make this collection available to every one please?
The root URL is: http://www.aerocommander.com/Pbrochures/index.html
There are 9 pages each with a number of brochures.
The links need to reference an index file in each subdirectory - ie:
http://www.aerocommander.com/Pbrochures/1/index.html
Thanks,
Chris Schuermann

The ads and brochures that are on the old website were ones that I sent some
time ago. I'll try to get most of them to Nico as soon as it becomes possible.
I just sent him the 680S Super brochure and the 690B brochure, so you should
be seeing those soon.

Hey Tom,
Your Laser printer probably doesn't have enough RAM memory to print it in its
current format. You may have to adjust your print quality to get it to work.
Sorry for the trouble, its the easiest format for me to use.

Folks,
Those dated 7/22/2005 have been uploaded today. There is a lot of classic
pictures and articles on the webserver now. I will look into making it
easier to navigate the information. Next week some time.
Enjoy.
