Hi,
I don't know which one it is, but it's certainly a Model 520. Can anyone help?
Very Best Regards,
Barry

According to the gentlemen that set up the website and took the picture, he
said he never knew the N number, but he thinks 520-16. But it was only a guess.

Hi,
Nope, no cigar, not s/n 16.
This used to be over here in England, but was destroyed by fire at Fairoaks
airport on August 14th 1969.
Best Regards,
Barry

I think this is an excellent idea. As always, I am on the prowl for
technical information. Maybe someone could bring a good photo copy machine.

Tylor,
Thanks for the tip. The one which someone stold from me was similar. I had
used a barrel that could be filled with water. This way it was light enough
to be loaded in my bus by myself. Also, it could be attached to the tail
empty by one person, filled with water and it would pull the front off the
ground. It's just that I am a pretty busy boy right now and I don't have
the time to fabricate one, and our tool and die maker just retired. Thought
someone might have something trick for sale.

Well Barry,
I made some phone calls and found out that it WAS N4117B S/N 520-18.
According to a gentlemen there who was very helpful, the airplane was damaged heavily
in a thunderstorm several years ago. He told me that the previous owner sold
it to Michael Wright and that Mr. Wright got tired of paying ramp fees for it
and cut it up with a saw and hauled it off.
So you can mark that one down as being gone.

Hi Bert,
Well done! That's really good of you to track that info down.
My database shows that Michael Wright scrapped s/n 18, but as his address was in
Mechanicsville, Virginia, I didn't figure this was the same plane.
Very Best Regards,
Barry

You've made me think Bert....
I have a full set of service manuals for all piston Commanders as well
as Maint manuals - pristine condition, up to date, purchased new from
TCAC. Also have all SB's, SL's, "Custom Kits" books, many ads,
brochures, owners manuals, POH's, Commander training manuals, Commander
card decks, cig lighters, and boxes of other stuff.
Since I don't see myself buying another Commander, I should gather this
stuff all up, inventory it, and see if anyone wants it. Might buy me
some avgas.

Dan,
I've already parted with my 480 manuals (still have 435 stuff tho). I
seem to recall that Essco is where I got them. You might check - they
have TONS of manuals.

Chris,
I have your gas money in my pocket.
Let me know what you have and we can make it happen.

Might buy me
some avgas.

Yep, me. I have about 50. Plus, I have several brochures, ash trays and
even a couple of old phono graph records with a "sales pitch" on why YOU should
buy a Commander. jb

Chris, why no more Commanders? (Besides flying the twin Piper-which you could trade).

Moe,
Sounds like you have the solution.
A 30-gallon drum will weight about 240Lbs of water.
Tie it to your tail with a rope and start filling it. Stop when the nose
wheel comes off the ground.
Soap is sold in the plastic 30 gallon drums. 55 gallon drum would work.
Put it on it's side and start filling it with water.

Tylor,
Thanks for the tip.
