Subject: | Hydraulic problem |

Gentlemen et al,
Two items:
My local engeneering force is struggling with an hydraulic problem using my
wallet as energy.
I have had both engine driven hydraulic pumps overhauled.
In 35 hours the right pump start to pour the Skydrol (yes Skydrol) overboard
through the bypass drain hose.
When I called "Thunderbird" (who overhauled it) they told me that I did not
have a pump problem but a "check valve" or "pressure relief valve" or
"accumulator" problem, (anything but a pump problem). He said that if the
check valve (or any of the above items) are not working correctly it will
let pressure get onto the suction side of the system and will roll an
internal seal in the pump it'self.
Has anyone got information that could enlighten me instead of my engineers
making my wallet lighter?
Second item:
When this aircraft was delivered to me there was no hydraulic filter (or
assembly) in the hydraulic resevoir.
I have already purchased a used filter for a large fortune but need 6 more
parts to complete the installation.
The 6 parts I need to find are as follows;
Qty. 1 - Plate - Part number 2790168-3
Qty. 3 - Gasket - Part number 5790162-7
Qty. 1 - Welded assembly - Part number 5790162-16
Qty. 1 - Nut, shank (73168) - Part number 92NL22-02
Qty. 1 - Washer - Part number AN970-4
Qty. 1 - Gasket - Part number 2790168-5
Does anyone have a source for any of the above items, please?

I went through that same problem with my 500A. After four failures and
changing one hose, one pump then both pumps, then all hoses and both pumps
we changed the accumulator and that solved the problem until one of the new
hoses failed.

Hi Dan,
Any desire to run up to Columbia tomorrow in my 500-B? I need to do a dry
run so I have something to say to everyone at the briefing before the poker
run on saturday.
I was thinking of a Noon departure or so, so we'd be back in plenty of time
to see the "golden pedal" landing competition.
You can reach me anytime at 650-938-9500.
Cheers,
/John
