I spoke with S-Tec and Century afew years ago about adding the 560F to
their STCs. S-Tec had zero interest but Century said if I wanted to leave
the plane at the factory for a couple of weeks and pay for the flight
testing they would certify the 2000 on it. The old L2 just aint what it
used to be.

I fly an Aero Commander 680 FLP with the Mr. RPM Conversion. The
R/engine RPM gage went to zero on landing last week. Maintenance just
told me that the speedometer type cable between the accessory housing of
the engine and the tach generator has split. The options are go digital
or find a new cable. According to Mr. RPM, there are no such cables to
be had through normal channels.
Sooo...I'm back to asking for help from everyone on this Aero
Commander website. Does anyone have such a part, or knows where I can
get such a part. I don't have a part number, but I could get it if
needed. Please contact me by email at hcourier@cox.net. with
availability and price information.

I reviewed all the paperwork that came with the plane and other than the
Miller nose I see nothing else regarding the nose cone.
I will get the propeller info and I have taken pictures of the tank

22 gallons weighs about 150 pounds, yes? Wing Commander Gordon may
have some input on the Weight & Balance perspective, I hope.
I'm pretty sure that the factory auxiliary baggage tank was connected
to the main center fuel tank through the two multibolt fittings where
the fuel sump and the fuel quantity transmitter were located. I don't
think it was necessary to pump fuel to the center tank, the two acted
like one tank.
I'll certainly look forward to seeing the pictures!

The nose tank takes up the entire area exposed when the top nose
cover is removed.
I holds 22USG and is a "transfer" tank only. I have a switch and a
light on the panel, there is no gauge at all. The procedure is to turn
on the (marine) transfer pump for 35 mins. and that fuel will transfer
to the centre tank.
The baggage transfer tank is set up in the same manner. It is
located just behind the rear pressure bulkhead on the baggage floor and
holds 45USG. The transfer pump takes 55 mins. to transfer the fuel to
the centre tank.
All of this gives this aircraft an endurance of 7 hours, the log
book shows every single entry is greater than 6 hours day after day
after day.
I will take some images of the tanks and try the new ability to
Email them to this site.

tank was offered as an optional extra on a new airplane, but the factory
paperwork didn't reflect that it was accomplished at the factory for
your example. It was an auxiliary system comprising 67 gallons in total,
65 of which was usable. The factory drawing would have been No. 6630214,
released June 10th 1964 and was substantiated by Aero Commander Report
No. APP60-087, dated August 12th 1964.
It is, I suppose, possible such a tank was also offered under an
STC, but I haven't found any details.
I have researched the records held for s/n 1497 at the FAA Records
Center in Oklahoma City and found nothing to substantiate the
installation of your tank. However, those records obviously do not
include any paperwork originated while the aircraft was under Canadian
registry. As it has been so-registered for over 20 years, could the tank
have been installed in Canada? I don't know, but would imagine that if
it was a factory option, it would be a fairly simple process to get such
a modification effected.
The auxiliary nose tank is very interesting. I have not found any
paperwork at all relating to such a modification. If you are able to
send me some photographs, I can run this past some of my contacts, who
worked for Aero Commander's R&D guys at Norman, Oklahoma.
Incidentally, I'm hoping that records you have may tell me when a
Chamberlain 2001K-B nose radome was installed (STC SA265EA) and when
this was removed and replaced by a Chamberlain 3066X one (STC SA458EA).
I know that a 'Miller' nose was installed under SA585SW on May 29th
1974.
As if that isn't enough, can you also confirm the exact model
propellers installed (hub & blade)?

Because I apparently inadvertantly sent out that message too... only I deleted

mailed to people in my address book. Opening the message seems to trigger a
mass-mailing without the 'sender' being aware of it. Forwarding it or replying
to it replicates the trigger.
I suspect it is a means of getting addresses for spam. There is embedded code
in the note which registers the receiving e-mail address as a valid address in
a database somewhere out on the 'net.
I've done a virus scan and spyware scan, and am now clean. And yes, I use the
latest version of Norton, but this one seemed to have a way around it. A scan
using Spyware Doctor found it and deleted it.

Hey all in Commander Land,
N634CT now sports the MR RPM 500S turbocharger conversion too.
Test flying we requested 25,000 but ATC would only allowed 23,000, at cruise
power settings TAS was 220.
Single engine climb, at METO power, climbing through 20,000 at Vyse.
Maintained 500 fpm. LH eng hit CHT temp limit there.
Take off weight 6720 lb.
For a little 500S with 290 HP a side it's a hot rod.

We have had CT for 3 years now came out of Ruerto Rico. All we had to do to
make her a good ship is change the lower spar cap, replace both engine
mounts, hang two new engines, install a new panel with new radios, and
convert her to turbos. The paint was already pretty good.
