JimBob, I'm sure, will confirm the 'exact' rationale, but knowing this should enable everyone to realise that that "weekend" ought to kept absolutely clear of anything else in diaries. "FLY-IN" should be the very first entry you make in a new diary. Obviously, business commitments and the arrival of siblings are more important. The idea was to avoid 'randomly selected' dates and make the Fly-In a time of year that is easily remembered, like Christmas and Easter. So, Commander lovers MUST make sure that the next-to-last weekend of September is a "no-go" time for anything else other than Commanders. No doubt 2007 diaries are now available, so go out, buy one and make YOUR entry in it NOW. Anybody else planing to go to the flyin?? lets get a few more of you to attend. If you love Commanders (and you must or you would not be on this chat list) then you really need to attend this years event. Both Jim Mathison (the new owner of Twin Commander Aircraft) and Geoffrey Pence (TCAC costumer service expert) will be attending. Jim and I will be speaking on the aging aircraft issues. There are some people out there with some pretty scary ideas. There are other great speakers and some really fun events planed, like a trip the Eagle Creek Aviation and the Indy 500 museum. You can even arrange for a ride around the track!! Lets make this year event the best attended ever!! Come on, be there. In future generations they will wonder how the next to last weekend in September became a bigger travel holiday than T-Giving....and why the airlines do so poorly in spite of all that travel. Heck- might even surpass mothers day! Oh- wait, scratch that. I keep hearing from the Baron/Twin Cessna crowd that Commander owners are all a bunch of bastards- so apparently we don't have mothers..... :-) Hope you all have fun- I'll be marking up my 2007 calendars right away. It is not panning out - not because of a lack of desire and love for that which we share, but circumstances that I could not control have it otherwise. One of the things that has obstructed this year's attendance, is a trip to South Africa that I have to undertake. Perhaps some more pictures of Commanders that I encounter will be taken for publication.
