When I brought mine home had a similar problem.
Most of the fault was with somebody "overshimming " the steering collar on
the nose wheel so that it had lots of friction.
The second part of the fix was to follow the brake valve pressure
adjustment procedure in the maintenance manual.
After doing these it steers like a dream.

Subject: | Twin Rating + Commander Time in Melbourne |
To all of you =8Cdown under=B9:
I=B9m going to be in Melbourne for the next 3-6 months, and would love to get
a twin rating and some experience in a commander. I=B9ve got an American PPL
(SEL). I know about the license conversion process, but need a flight schoo
l
& instructor who can sign me off to take the air law test. Once that=B9s done
,
I want to get the twin rating & commander hours.
Does anyone have any suggestions on where to go?
Regards,

Check your nose wheel steering collar for wear on the upper and lower
surfaces. Also the strut could have to much wear. If it has too much clearance
it
will cock when steering one direction.
