Hawkins" I ended up having to do this for N2760B - ~$25K each. She has the GO480-DIA (lower HP) engines and the Queen Air prop conversion wouldn't work. We looked 2yrs for a reconditioned set and there simply were none we could find that passed inspection. High price and long lead time but glad it's done - no more AD's. Think Hartzell mined the aluminum ore by hand for these - given cost and time it took! :) Matt -----Original Message----- From: owner-commander-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-commander-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of skyhawkc-172@comcast.net Sent: Tuesday, December 12, 2006 2:06 AM To: commander-list@matronics.com Subject: RE: Commander-List: Props I don't know much, but this is what I think I know...Hartzell makes brand new props for Commanders (very expensive), I found I have this option after talking to Hatzell today. The time/hours limitation between overhawls on props is a recommendation just like it is on motors, and of course unless you are a part 135 operator then u must adhear to the overhawls. There is also some type of Beech Queen Air prop conversion but I don't know anything about it. Good luck to all with this prop AD hope this helps. b ________________________________ Message 3 _____________________________________ Time: 07:44:09 AM PST US From: WINGFLYER1@aol.com Subject: Re: Commander-List: Props Good trade Gary, the only problem that i see (divorce) is you have to reach soo far around to kiss the nose. This is truly a wonderful site that is helpful, beneficial and enjoyable to the current and future Commander owners. I do not know this machine. However, the first critical thing you need to find out is if it can be ferried to a site where work can take place. That is, unless you have available hangar space at KTOA. I purchased a 560E that had been sitting unmoved and exposed to the weather in Compton, Ca. for nine years. Getting it flyable so it could begin a six year restoration was an arduous and costly task.....worth evey minute and dollar spent. Issue number one is when I turn on the electric fuel pump the pressure spikes about 20 higher than the green zone and floods the engine and the engine quits. This happens prior to take off before the throttle is advanced and also on downwind when the throttle is brought back in anticipation of landing. As soon as the pump is turned off, the engine returns to normal. Any response will be greatly appreciated. 2. The second issue is a hydraulic leak associated with the accumulator. After each flight there is fluid around the upper and lower fitting. Is this unit something that can be overhauled or repaired? 3. As a follow up to the broken door hinge. We received a replacement of the hinge =BD that had broken for a cost of $950.00. We were unable to remove the broken hinge from the door without having to take the entire door apart so my mechanic was able to reweld the broken hinge. Apparently it had been welded twice before and it is questionable if the new weld will hold. We are keeping the new hinge just in case we need it in the future. If the hinge =BD is $950.00 I would hate to think of what a new door would cost. For that matter, to make a new plane would probably be in the neighborhood of a CJ. Have at it guys, I am counting on you for your expertise.. You are looking at a high powered Commander, the 720, with no pressurization. That description could fit a number of airplanes "on the block" right now. http://www.controller.com/listings/forsale/list.asp?catid=9 &man=COMMANDER&guid=59AACC8C2FC94841854D3FC7ED713A5E There are airplanes available here for less than $90,000 that were not designed with pressurization. It would be a lot cheaper to resurrect (if required) one of these airplanes that may not require as much "tweaking."(Money) as the 720. Personally, I'm not to sure about the value of the pressurization system on a piston Commander, if the system is not working. bilbo ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Other Matronics Email List Services ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Post A New Message commander-list@matronics.com UN/SUBSCRIBE http://www.matronics.com/subscription List FAQ http://www.matronics.com/FAQ/Commander-List.htm Web Forum Interface To Lists http://forums.matronics.com Matronics List Wiki http://wiki.matronics.com Full Archive Search Engine http://www.matronics.com/search 7-Day List Browse http://www.matronics.com/browse/commander-list Browse Digests http://www.matronics.com/digest/commander-list Browse Other Lists http://www.matronics.com/browse Live Online Chat! http://www.matronics.com/chat Archive Downloading http://www.matronics.com/archives Photo Share http://www.matronics.com/photoshare Other Email Lists http://www.matronics.com/emaillists Contributions http://www.matronics.com/contribution ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- These Email List Services are sponsored solely by Matronics and through the generous Contributions of its members.
