Barry, Sad story about the 500A that was cut up, it had been at Essendon (I think) stripped for repainting, and then there was some "problem" that resulted in the bare metal aircraft being parked in the open for so long that the resulting corrosion made repair economical, and it was scrapped. As I understand it, it became a donor for another 500A rebuild at Melton. This aircraft has been converted to IO-520s, three blade props etc, all new King Silver Crown etc., and even had a pilot door installed. I don't have a record of the rego, but I will see what I can find out, if somebody else doesn't fill in the blanks first. I have had a close look at the finished rebuild, a great job, "as good as new". Steve Nott at GAM will know all about the aircraft. The owner of the aircraft is also the owner of Melton airfield and the flying school. All the best to everybody for the New Year. Cheers, Bill Hamilton ---------- At 01:27 AM 2/01/2007, you wrote: >Hi Russell, > >Firstly, Happy New Year! > >Secondly, I've been trawling "the net" today for Aero Commanders >involved in Court Cases etc. > >I don't know whether this is 'news' or not, but I found the >following, that isn't recorded on my database: > > From > <http://members.iinet.net.au/~cask/aviation/vicfields.html>http://members.iinet.net.au/~cask/aviation/vicfields.html > >"Melton Airfield (20 Apr 1998) >About 40 minutes west of Melbourne, north of the Western Freeway, >about five clicks up Coburns Rd, near Toolern Vale.
