I understand that before someone took it apart, a group of unknowns tied a rope to her and tried to make a glider out of the fuselage after the engines were taken out. Apparently it didn't go very well because it crashed into another aircraft on the field. I was just wondering if anyone knew which aircraft it was. Thanks, Bert ________________________________ Message 3 _____________________________________ Time: 06:00:29 PM PST US Subject: Re: Commander-List: Falcon Field Airport Mesa, Arizona From: "cvcantwell@charter.net" Bert: I salvaged N265X, a 680 that had been at Chander Field. Someone had taken a piece of hawser and tied it around the vertical fin and rudder and drug it around a bit. There was some wing tip and leading edge damage from hitting the tail of one of the Harpoons tied down close by. I had planned t o rebuild her, but found so much corrosion and skin damage in the belly, that it wasn=B9t practical to even attempt it. We cut the fuselage right behind th e contol columns, just in front of the wing and just aft of the wing. I brought home basically everything forward of the columns, the entire wing assembly and all of the control surfaces. I would like to sell the entire lot of parts as it looks like I will loosing my job and all probablity of owning a flyable Commander. I don=B9t have any pictures available right now, but can get some for anyone that is interested.
