I used Boyd Interiors of Mena, AR (contact info below) and thought they did a very
nice job. Not only that, they worked with me on several custom features and
truly took pride in their work.
I'll try to post some pictures here, but if that doesn't work (and your interested)
you can email me at dave@phifersysytems.com

future as I a relatively new Commander owner. I've spent the last year getting
my 500B in shape.
The attached pictures show the new paint scheme of N801DP.
It was painted at Crider Aircraft Painting in Mena, AR. I was very pleased with
their work and enjoyed doing the project with them.

Hi Keith,
I've attached a scan of the color slide in question. As you'll see,
there isn't much to go on in the way detail in the background.
I'm sure though now that "LAT" is Lockheed Air Terminal and this had its
name changed in 1975, to "Burbank Glendale-Pasadena Airport".
Very Best Regards,
Barry

Subject: | AC680E Weight & Balance Form |
OK, Lads,
Here's the first of a few of the Weight & Balance forms I created for Inter
Island Air (a FAR 135 operation in Pago Pago).
Not sophisicated like Dr David Fitzgerald's automated forms, but intended to
meet the FARs that require a hard copy of pax manifest and W&B to be left at
point of departure. They were a 2 part NCR form when produced.
Operating as an air carrier is all about paper work and little to do with
flying an airplane ...
Anway, the top row needs to be filled out with your empty weight / arm /
moment.
>From there, you add weights, subtotal, find C.G.
As you work the form, you can see your C.G. shift with pax loading (running
forward, fast!) and then you can see the C.G. pull aft with cargo and fuel.
I will upload an example form.

It represents a fairly typical flight I would do between Samoan islands in
the AC-680E.

When I had my 560E painted a couple of years ago, it started out at 12K
but by the time I had the skin joints sealed then a few leading edge
dints filled etc, it was $ 15K, and that was a couple years ago, they
did a nice job, stripped and treated the skin. In Griffin, GA.

Does anyone know anything more?

Subject: | AC-500 A/B/U/S W&B form |
Gentlemen,
I have to apologize. I've been rummaging around looking for the 12 year old
disc with the AC-500 series Weight & Balance work sheet.
I cannot find it.
My hope was to upload this document so anyone who wanted to, could jigger it
to fit their own needs. But as my Third Grade teacher used to say, "The road
to Hell is paved with good intentions."
In its stead, I offer up a scan of the last hard copy I have of this form.
The Weight/Moment table is microscopic and difficult to read. I'm sorry. My
eyes were better suited to this size print in 1995.
So there you have it. Do what you will with it.
By the way, these were part of the hand-outs I'd give after my lesson on
Commander Weight & Balance, as the tidal wave of avionics retrofits were happening
in the early 1990s.
The heavy tube fired radios that the airplane was balanced upon (on racks
just aft of the rear baggage bulkhead) were being yanked out and panel mount
gizmos were going in -- to the detriment of the Commander's balance.
I was on a campaign to get weights hung on the tail stringers to pull the
C.G. back to where it should be. Gary Gadberry announced at an early TCFG Fly-In
that we would do that with his mods from then on.
As more and more avionics migrate to the front, please keep in mind what that
will do to your typical pilot & 1 passenger, low fuel, no cargo, C.G.
Ted Smith designs are the only piston twins (that I'm aware of) that have
C.G. move forward with fuel burn. This is to your advantage, but you don't want
too much of a good thing!

Nico,
What a delightful gizmo! Tell us, what is it based on -- you don't mention a
model, or, if you did, I didn't see it.
Did you take the tabular data from the P.O.H. and extrapolate it?
For the hopelessly geeky, will it run on a PDA?

I must plead innocence here. This was uploaded some years ago by someone
whose name I cannot remember. I believe it's for the 500 series but should
be easily adaptable to any other model if the constants and formulas are
adjusted.
Anyone remember who put this together?

Nice sheet. I can maybe roll that into a W&B so data is entered only
once.
Most (?) PDA's should run spreadsheets. I think?

I know there is a spreadsheet version for Palm that allows one to work
with Excel spreadsheets. I have a pretty old Palm and looked at buying
the software at one time, but decided to get a notebook instead.
God bless,
Andrew
