I knew he made mugs with sayings on them, and seemed one of the more thoughtful. The first coffee mug I clicked on was the Beatitudes. I read a message of peace, justice and mercy. I'm not a religious man, and was not raised Christian. But I bought a mug anyway. Whether Christian, Muslim, Jew, or evil secular humanist; it's hard to argue with the message. I later found out the Beatitudes are among my wife's favorites. The 'Wisdom' mug, also had some good stuff on it. Nico tossed one into my order, being the decent guy that he is. I'd like to give a plug to his company. (I REALLY DON'T want to start any political debate here.) The mugs make nice gifts. Can we get a mug with a Commander on them? Happy Hanukkah! They absolutely are fire breathing monsters. I guess I meant that the pilot must have a deft touch, or at least not be as ham-fisted as us direct-drive guys. I think I would be pretty nervous, managing my first descent & approach in an IGSO-540-powered airplane if someone gave me one. I didn't realize that there were freight companies still operating the IGSO-540's. I was under the impression that parts were dwindling and replacements of any kind are getting hard to come by. I sort of imagined that the IGSO-series engines would be gone within the next 10-15 years (I sure hope that DOESN'T happen!). I agree with your "too much power" comment. I just saw a Military Channel special on the McDonnell-Douglas F-4 Phantom. They stated that it is the heaviest fighter the US has ever produced. One of the engineers who was interviewed stated that "the F-4 is proof that with enough thrust, you can make anything fly." That's something that my seniors have been telling me for years, and it gave me a good laugh to see it on TV. /J PS: On the F-4, they pointed out its vicious & predatory appearance, with the cantilevered wingtips & drooping horizontal stabilizers, and mentioned that those were both band-aids on an aerodynamically miserable airframe. The things you learn, 40 years past when it really matters.... > -----Original Message----- > From: owner-commander-list-server@matronics.com > [mailto:owner-commander-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of Randy > Dettmer, AIA > Sent: Wednesday, 5 December 2007 10:54 AM > To: commander-list@matronics.com > Subject: RE: Commander-List: Re: Commander-List Digest: 0 Msgs - 12/02/07 > > > > Hey John, > I believe Columbia is in PA.
