Dear Todd,
Please excuse me if I missed something but it sounds to me like you could use
a Dale Carnegie course. You state that you are "rather new to this list", then
immediately start ripping it for all of its observed faults. If I were new
to something and thought it needed improvement I think I would politely volunteer
my services and proceed to quietly improve it rather than insulting everyone
involved.
By the way most folks on this list sign off with their name and maybe their airplane
number: evidently you are real important where you work, but here we
a are just Commander enthusiast.

Dear Dan,
I had the opportunity to meet and spent a day with Todd while flying my
500S. That is the short coming of communicating like this on the
internet. The mood and tone can be sorely misinterpreted. All of the
things Todd pointed out, I have observed and therefore never utilized
the site he was referring to. I found him to be a very forthright
person and not negative at all. He wasn't ripping the "list" as you
say. He was disappointed in the lack of content of the Twin Commander
web site.

I didn't see Todd's letter and it wasn't included in your response, Dan.
Not knowing specifically what Todd was referring to except that it had
something to do with the website, I should perhaps comment on the state of
the site, in addition to what has already been said.
It was a dark and stormy night...
No wait, That's not it.
We all volunteer to make it work. Positive criticism is always appreciated.
Time and patience are needed for all to enjoy it.

I have a copy of a small pamphlet titled "Sales Data Handbook" (would
fit in a shirt pocket) that lists all the Aero Commander models from the
100, Darter-100, 200 (looks like a Meyers) AG-B-1A Snipe (radial) up
through the 1121 Jet Commander. I got it from a fellow Commander owner
Charley Williamson -who owned a 520 at the time, based out of Pontiac,
Michigan. Charley helped me ferry my bird from Tecumseh, MI in '89 to
Pontiac where I got it airworthy again. For whatever reason Charley had
a bunch of these loose in a box (I should have snagged more). I haven't
seen Charley in years but I believe Charley has passed on; I saw his 520
in Howell, MI a few years back on the tie down ramp.
This little gem lists: price, years built, serial # range, quantity
built, power plant, prop, fuel specs...dimensions - performance. The
index includes 27 models of Commanders all together.
I can copy it and send it on to (?) help with the Commander
specification issue. Note that I should have paid closer attention to
how I hole punched the bloody thing - I inadvertently punched it on the
wrong side of the page such that I cut out some of the spec's.
Nonetheless it's pretty comprehensive for its size and even with some
information cropped off, it's not so difficult to interpolate between
models to fill in the blanks.

I have a similar pamphlet and would be happy to scan it if Gary's info
has
been somehow lost due to hole punches.

That would be a treasure, Gary. If you could somehow copy it, or send it so
that I can scan it (I'll send it back) and publish it on the website, it
would be the answer. I didn't even start researching the ag-Commanders. They
should definately be in the website, don't you think?
Thanks

Re: Commander-List: Aircraft specificationsNicco,
Looks to me as if Deneal's got the same one I have, except I don't have
the cover. If Deneal has the scanning and electronic expertise to get
it to you - I'd go with his 'cleaner' electronic copy! It even has more
aircraft listed in the index than the one I have.
Here I thought I had something unique?

Hi Todd,
I haven't looked at the "Models" section of the Website and you're
absolutely right, the details given for the Model 520 are totally wrong!
In fact, it looks as though most of the specifications for many of the
Models are wrong, and the Specifications for one Model have been repeated
for other Models. The details shown for the Model 520 are, in fact, those
for the Model 500 and the Model 520 details appear when Model 560 is
selected!
It looks as though when I get the proverbial 5 minutes, I'll have prepare a
new listing for Nico to get the correct details against each of the Models.
Grateful thanks for pointing this out Todd!

I am rather new to this list. The website looks very nice and appears that
it was updated a few years ago. (I've been poking around the site for
years, as one of these days I'm going to own an Aero Commander. I think the
time is soon.) But I must observe that I thought the website was abondoned.
There are broken links, ASP failures, SQL errors on databases lookups,
annoucments for dates that have past, the 520 specifications has been wrong
for a long as I can remember, and there does not appears to be any new
content added in a while. What are the intentions of this website. I'd
love to see this website become a great source for Aero Commander
information, such as manuals, photos, stories, advice, service bulletins,
checklists, etc.
