There are some photos of what is discribed as a 500B on this site, does
anyone recognize this Commander?
Thanks,

Hi Bert,
If it is a 500B and the photos were taken 'recently', I reckon there are
three possible candidates, but I've nothing else to help i/d this
Commander.
The three are:
500B-964-19, ZS-KPU.
Currently Registered to Bevrick (Pty) Ltd., of Kimberley, Northern Cape
Province.
So, unlikely, if, as one of photos says "... and home again. On final to
Johannesburg International Airport."
500B-1428-151, ZS-LGV.
Currently Registered to Dr. T M Stegman & Associates, of Ravenswood,
Boksburg.
500B-1498-176, ZS-MFS.
Currently Registered to Garrox (Pty) Ltd., of Bedfordview, Johannesburg.
Best Regards,
Barry

Report: 777 Engines Were Running At Impact
Despite earlier reports that suggested both engines had quit on
the Boeing 777 that crashed on final approach to Heathrow last week, the
engines were still developing power at impact, the United Kingdom's Air
Accident Investigation Board said on Thursday. The AAIB also said there
was adequate fuel on board. The aircraft was on autopilot and stabilized
on an ILS approach when the autothrust system commanded an increase in
thrust from both engines. "The engines both initially responded but
after about 3 seconds the thrust of the right engine reduced," according
to the AAIB. "Some eight seconds later the thrust reduced on the left
engine to a similar level. The engines did not shut down and both
engines continued to produce thrust at an engine speed above flight
idle, but less than the commanded thrust." Investigators now are working
to complete a detailed analysis and examination of the complete
fuel-flow path from the aircraft tanks to the engine fuel nozzles.
The AAIB said it is "sensitive to the needs of the industry,"
including aircraft manufacturers that use similar onboard systems and
the flight crews who fly them, and will issue more information as soon
as possible.

I know ZS-MFS and the last time I took pictures of her, she had a radome
attached to the nose. I'll find the pics and publish them. It doesn't seem
as if this one has a radome.

Nico,
I have some photos of MFS, that doesn't look like the same one. I don't have
any photos of ZS-LGV 1428-151 500B. So that could be a it.

Hi Nico,
You're right. I've got a few of photos of ZS-MFS and it does have a
radome.
The Commander in the questioned photo seems to have winglets too, but
I'm not too well up on those which have them, outside of the US.
Best Regards,
Barry

I just found the pics of MFS I took a couple of years ago at Grand Central
airport and MFS did sport winglets. How about that.
I think it is very likely MFS if we compare the instrument panel with my
pictures but then the radome had to have been removed, it had a paint job,
and the interior redone. My pictures show a rather worn interior.
Could the guy who took the pictures not look at his bill for the charter and
let us know which plane it was?
Thanks
Nico
