I can fully anticipate that watching her fly off will be a sad, sullen affair...in some ways it would be easier pulling my right arm off - something I doubt my dear wife could ever understand. N206DX is a 1954 straight 560, serial # 173. It has a modern panel (pilot's side standard 6 pak arrangement including an artificial horizon, DG, Airspeed and Altimeter for the co-pilot). Mounted in the panel next to the power levers is a King Silver Crown radio stack (KA-134 audio panel, Northstar M-1 Loran, KX 155 nav-com w/ Glideslope, KX 155 nav-com and a KT 76 Transponder). I installed a Davtron 5 function OAT/volt meter. The heater has been overhauled, all the grime in the wheel wells scrubbed clean, all tubing secured wire looms put right. The interior has been redone in grey fabric and leather but the seats are waiting their turn to be re-upholstered to match. This one has the couch in the back. 6DX has three bladed props w/ polished oversized spinners (the props were overhauled in 2000 @ H&S in Pontiac, MI) - only 2 hours of flight time on them since OH yet out of calendar. Within the past year and a half, the engines have been overhauled to include new bearings, all cylinders have the 1/2" exhaust valves, 2 new cams, new hydraulic units, etc, etc. Gear boxes are in good to excellent shape. The motor mounts/ main gear trusses are newly fabricated and hard anodized. All the seals in the nacelle have been upgraded to the silicone variety. All new hoses in the engine compartments. The de-ice boots have been removed from the wings but remain on the tail; the system is a reservoir type (fiber wound ball behind the baggage compartment curtain). The paint is a 6.5 to 7.0 overall cream with copper and black stripes (the grey interior was originally intended to match an anticipated repaint at some point in the future). New tires and tubes, the mains have been converted to 4 puck Cleveland's similar in style to the original but gawd awful Goodyear wheels and brakes. Mechanically she's a solid bird and needs the next dedicated owner to put the finishing touches onto one sweet flying airplane. I half heartedly considered parting her out; the engines and props by themselves would be worth what the entire airplane would bring. I've just spent too much time keeping her in one piece I'd rather see it remain whole rather than chop it into pieces only to shred the rest. I have all but the 2 earliest logs: Barry just ran the ownership trail a month or so back. One of my neighbors is showing some interest (we live on an airpark in West Michigan - Z98) but it's time to get serious about letting go. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Other Matronics Email List Services ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Post A New Message commander-list@matronics.com UN/SUBSCRIBE http://www.matronics.com/subscription List FAQ http://www.matronics.com/FAQ/Commander-List.htm Web Forum Interface To Lists http://forums.matronics.com Matronics List Wiki http://wiki.matronics.com Full Archive Search Engine http://www.matronics.com/search 7-Day List Browse http://www.matronics.com/browse/commander-list Browse Digests http://www.matronics.com/digest/commander-list Browse Other Lists http://www.matronics.com/browse Live Online Chat! http://www.matronics.com/chat Archive Downloading http://www.matronics.com/archives Photo Share http://www.matronics.com/photoshare Other Email Lists http://www.matronics.com/emaillists Contributions http://www.matronics.com/contribution ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- These Email List Services are sponsored solely by Matronics and through the generous Contributions of its members.
