Nico was listening. See if what I have done is sufficient. Let me know
if any changes are necessary. As more information becomes available, I
will make the text clickable and open a separate page with all the info
and perhaps an application which I will then automatically send off to
the organizing committee. (:-D)
Thanks

Subject: Commander-List: The 2008 "60th Anniversary" Fly-In
Ladies & Gentlemen,
I know that September 18-21 seems a long way ahead but, believe me, it
will be upon us all in next to no time.
It certainly isn't too early to consider ways "we" can help Capt.
JimBob in ensuring that the 60th Anniversary event will be the
best-attended one ever. The nature of the occasion certainly means that
it ought to be.
Firstly, one way to help will be by word of mouth.
If you have another Commander owner on your airport, or one known of
nearby, surely it cannot be too much trouble to find the owner and talk
to him about the Flight Group and the event.
Of course, it will be best to have full details of Membership and fees
etc. to hand, but they're not then the lead can be followed-up.
Secondly, when I visit the FAA Records Center after the Fly-In each
year, one thing I do to up-date my database, is to record details of the
Commanders that have changed hands since my previous visit.
This includes any telephone or other contact details that may be in
the FAA paperwork.
Therefore, if anybody is willing to make some telephone calls, I can
'pull' any records from my database for any given State, where I have a
Telephone number.
Included in what I send will be the aircraft Serial Number; 'N' number
and the date they acquired their Commander.
Enough detail to let the Owner know that we do know something about
them and they are important!
Of course, there is always the chance that the person you phone knows
about the event already, but it gives you both a chance to chat about
Commanders anyway, so the call isn't wasted!
Thirdly, I hope Nico is "listening", as the "aerocommander.com"
website needs to trumpet the event, LOUDLY and in no uncertain fashion.
Necessary details ought to be on the 'front page' without the need to
click to a link.
Then, there could be a link to the "nitty-gritty" details.
(Nico: on the front page, "entusiasts" needs amending to
"enthusiasts").
Lastly, I think we ought to try and get some media coverage to publish
the event.
I have made a very rough draft of a News Item that "we" could submit
to various magazines etc.
What I'm not sure of though are the best places to approach.
I'm sure you will all know which sources are more likely to be read by
Commander owners.
I'm sure that Capt JimBob will be busy enough already and will welcome
help in making this event a truly memorable one.
I'm sure that nobody truly understands what goes on, months in
advance, to make these Fly-Ins happen, so if we can all "do our bit" to
help, we will all benefit at the end of the day.
Any comments or other ideas will be welcome !!
Very Best Regards,
Barry

Clear DayHello,
The AD related to Service Bulletin 90D is due on the Aero Commander I
fly (680 FLP, N91ES). That SB pertains to the wing spar cap inspection
due every (now) 750 hours. Looks like we'll have to take the center fuel
cell out for that job. By chance, does anyone know of a situation where
one can avoid taking the fuel cell out but still be able to complete the
inspection?
Thank you,
Ray Mansfield
